Send dried noodle packs. The guys love them. They are easy and quick to make and supplement the rations when they're in FOB's.0

When I was out in Iraq I loved receiving the simple things.
Jelly Beans

Pot Noodles
Were among my favourite things to receive.

just remember there is a weight limit of 2kgs (check it's been a while) and its surprising what it will weigh, i also used to tape a contents list to inside of box so no pilfering occurs.Making small changes, hoping they will last....0 -
Its been said before on the news and on here.
People sending parcels at christmas and other special occasions to "a soldier" can cause havoc at the BFPO centre. The system gets swamped and causes delays. They can only send XYZ weight on the airbridge. These delays are passed onto the troops on the ground as the parcels that they really want from family & friends are also stuck in the system.
Not really relevant to the thread, but just to remind everyone.

Hi everyone,
Am new to these forums and came across this post when i was looking for idea's of items that i could send to my husband who is out in Afghan until December! So far i have got these items waiting to go into a suitable box -
Deodrant
Toothbrush
Wetwipes
Suntan lotion & aftersun (remember to wrap them up well to avoid a spillage)
nuts
mints
dextrose sweets
mentoes
Tobasco sauce (again wrapped well to avoid bursting!)
What hi-fi magazine!
Other things to consider - Cheesy biscuits (like large mini chedders), crisps, shampoo/conditioner/ toothpaste.....
Hope this has helped someone!

Depends where he is, if hes in a main base i.e Camp Bastion or Kandahar then he will have all he needs and be quite comfortable so just sweets and things, however if hes in a forward operating base or a patrol base then the little things like shower gel and toothpaste go down well, also big bags of sweets to share round his blokes go a long way and help morale for everyone! when i was there the best thing I recieved was all my mums local papers and it helped keep in touch with what was happening at home also property pages as I was looking at buying a house on my return! this in turn gave me something to look forward too! If he has a hobby then send him some magazines on this!0

I also forgot as Alias_Omega says the system does get swamped and this does sometimes cause delays with more urgent supplies, if you would like you son or any of the guys to recieve parcels get in touch with UK Forces Support, (https://www.ukforcessupport.co.uk) they have contact with the MOD and and have a policed parcel system they could send some to your lad and his platoon! hope this helps0
