Halifax Reward Account want me to go in Branch?

Options
Hi All,

I have 3 Reward accounts opened up before they restricted them to one.

When I logged into on line banking today, on two of them, I cannot look at the transactions or make any payments.

I have rang the online helpdesk and they want me to go into a branch with photo ID.

Anyone know whats going on???

Should I only mention one of the accounts that seems to be blocked and then go into another branch the following day and mention the other one?

You shouldnt have 3 reward accounts, the most you can have is 2

One in your own name and one in a joint account with a parther
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Now yes. But up until October 2009 you could open 3 (any mix of Reward, Ultimate Reward, Sole, Joint).

As far as I'm aware the new post-Oct 2009 T&Cs are not retrospective. At least I hope not because I have 4 in my sole name!

Only if you want to create extra work for yourself.

Is there any problem with telling them the whole story when you go into the branch?

No only I did not want them to close two of my Reward Accounts. But if they do then so be it, the free fivers were good while they lasted:)

I had to go in recently with ID, maybe they are tightening up due to money laundering etc

    Hi savemoney,

This is what I suspect is the reason. Did they keep you in the branch long. (Will I have time in my dinner hour?)

PS Sorry to hear about your Mum

No I was in and out fairly quickly apart for the usual queue. I also opened a credit card (reward clarity)for OH and spend £300 per month and get £5 back. So use it for weekly shop

Maybe you've failed security on the phone and that is the reason you need to call in a branch with ID, they may have placed a note on your accounts which has blocked you from accessing them online.

They are retrospective, HBOS have simply not enacted their rights under the terms & conditions to close/ downgrade offending accounts.
Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.

Thanks for that. I now see that they use the word "hold" in the T&Cs. For some reason I thought they used "open" or "apply for". :o
