Vitamin D3

Well if you know anyone who itches and can't figure it out then tell them about vitamin D, I do. I wish someone had told me earlier, it used to drive me absolutely round the twist. For some reason I notice it when I'm in the bath more, that's when I know to up my intake for a couple of days.
The ordinary delivery times at iherb has been a couple of weeks for me.
something else to consider - my DH used to have occasional strange huffs where he'd go a bit quiet for a day or so for no reason I could understand - after a while I realised it was usually winter it happened, got him into D3 aswell and now he's much better - it didn't happen often but when it did it used to really upset me. Now we both take them from September onwards ( my GP told me I had to start in Spetember to get my levels up BEFORE winter kicked in) and it's much better now. I think because we both work indoors and also DH being a shift worker AND living in Scotland where there's less daylight hours in winter it does mean we have to pay attention to our vitamin D levels.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

I order mine online from iherb, softgels are much easier to swallow than the horse pills that are vitamin D in the UK- it was Ted Hutchison that first brought them to my attention.
I follow Ted's advice too.
Remember, if you're ordering from the States that you have to keep the value of your order below £18 or you have to pay import duty and usually a charge from the carrier who collects the duty! From the 1st Nov, this drops to £15. I expect that will catch a lot of people out.0 -

That is a revelation to me! I itch like crazy and have some vit d softgels but rarely remember to take them. I will start taking them and see if the itching goes. I fidget like crazy because I am always itching somewhere and the shins are the worst. If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0 -
I'm too new to post links, but I get my 5,000 iu softgels from an Ebay UK seller called a2znh.
They currently have D-3 120 softgels, 5000 iu, for £7.55 plus £1.95 p+p from within the UK. They have lots of other strengths available too.
I have been buying my D-3 from this seller for a couple of years and always been happy with them.0 -
For people who don't like pills/softgels, you can buy D3 in liquid form...I get this from a small local health food shop, but they can be bought online too......

It works out to about £10 for a 100 days worth, if like me, you take 6000IU's(6 drops)/day!

Yes, I saw that. Its a fantastic price. Does anyone know if the opened pot will be ok for a year? Or will the softgels deteriorate?0 -
I should think they will be ok, otherwise they wouldnt sell them in that quantity? As it is, my OH is taken them aswell, so they should last nearly 6 months between us.0

I'm not so sure. Some supplements are sold in 1-year sized tubs but independent advice says its better to use several smaller pots to prevent degradation. Unfortunately I can't think of an example! I googled for about an hour last night trying to find out the shelf life of an opened pot of Vit D3 softgels, but no joy.
Can anyone help or am I being over cautious?0
