I don't see the point of these sites for your local area, you drive past the petrol stations frequently so you will see for yourself which is the cheapest on your route. Great if you can find a station that is cheaper by using the site but its not likely to be on your normal route, so you'll have to divert off that normal route to save a penny or two, which the extra fuel your likely to use and time to save a penny a litre is wasted.........Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

Therefore it's my point of view that this site is not fit for purpose, yes indeed you're right it is free but I just wondered if anyone else had the same problems.
It's usually oK by me but I also know where the best sites are and if I am passing I top up anyway.

Agreed, why do so many people think they are owed something, the website doesn't charge and no one is forced to use it. Some people really should step away from the PC..............Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -

I drive past one filling station on my daily commute, which I know is regularly 3-4p more expensive than others in the area. Yet by going a few hundred metres in the 'wrong' direction I can think of at least another 7 filling stations. Driving past all of them would clearly be a waste of money, driving to the cheapest one certainly isn't. A couple of them are just on routes that I wouldn't normally use, but that are around the same overall distance (it would mean using 30mph/40mph roads instead of a dual carriageway for a mile or so).
The website may not help you, but it certainly helps me...0 -
I receive the free emails - seems a useful service. Always bugs me that the Morrisons across the river (therefore a 5 mile drive) is usually 1p per litre cheaper than the Morrisons near my house! All about competition though I guess. The other Morrisons is closer to an Asda which usually tops the charts on price.“Official Company Representative

But I bet you know which one is normally the best anyway. I don't get excited over the odd 1 -2 p but after the recent decrease our local station is 9p/l more."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

I have a pretty good idea, there are one or two that are usually better than the rest and I'll go to whichever is listed as being cheapest on that particular day. As you say 1p a litre makes little difference.
One interesting thing pp throws up is that in the area I currently live, and the area where I previously lived, branded fuel has often been cheaper than supermarkets. Currently there are three branded stations near me that are exactly the same price as the two supermarkets.0 -
If you already know where the cheapest place is; why are you using the site and then complaining about it?0

Thats the point though, the garages a few hundred metres off your normal route you know about so if they are considerably cheaper you will divert to that garage to save a few quid. The point is though I expect some people are going well out of there way to save 1 or 2p a litre, so any saving has been wasted by the extra distance. If you have to drive 4 miles out of your way to save even 3p you have just added another 4 mile of wear to your car but it won't matter as you saved about 75p, big wow.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0
