just wondering as ours seems to be very expensive.

3 bed semi with 2 adults and 1 5year old, no tumble drier and we pay £85pm and we still owed £90 when the bill came in last week.

3 dvd players, 5 lcd or plasma tv's ( we still have grown "kids" at home ) x box - not often used
and just the usual kettle toaster and hairdyers etc.....

OMG, our electricity is only about £15 a month!!! We don't have a dishwasher/tumble dryer and we have gas for heating, hot water and a gas hob... the gas is v. cheap too, only about £15-20 a month on average. We both work all day Mon-Fri, but still. £85 and £100 a month seem very steep!

ETA: this is for a 2 bed terrace, 2 TVs (one new fangled flat screen thing, one old style CRT), electric oven, kettle, toaster, iron, microwave etc, 1 desktop PC, lots of lamps, mostly old style bulbs in the ceiling lights (I hate those energy saving ones, they are so dim), my GHDs and hairdryer (lol) and umpteen chargers for phones, cameras etc!

3 bedroom bungalow 2 adults, 3 kids under 5, with oil heating that only half heats my water (not that i have it on anyway at the mo) so need the water heater, also use the dryer 2-3 times a week for the kids uniform (will be more prepared next year and buy extra so i don't need 2 do this) saying that my dryer has an A energy rating

ours is about £90 a month now, but we had a bill for £400 in winter and we had a dd set up for £85 we nearly dropped, til we relised we'd been running a completely empty broken fridge freezer for about 6 months in the garage, we both thought the other had unplugged it :( aww weel u live and learn

Don't they say that freezers are more efficient when they're full? Mine must be the most efficient freezer in the world :rotfl:

3 bed semi, 2 adults, no kids. Oil heating for C/H and H/W, electric shower (used about 9 times a week), electric oven and hob, fiidge freezer, chest freezer, 40" LCD TV, 19" LED TV, desktop PC, toaster, kettle, hairdryer (used 7 times a week). Would use immersion for 15 mins for H/W for dishes and OH to wash the war paint off.

We pay £97 a quarter (so about £33 a month) give or take a few pounds on NIE's tariff quarterly by DD so get the 4% discount (included in figure I gave)

Makes me think that I have something running somewhere I should not have for the OP who said £15 a month! Although the gas heating/hot water / hob will account for a lot of that I think.

We are actually looking to get a new kitchen, will def get gas in as I love the controllability and instantness of it compared to the halogen thing we have at the moment.
    Regards, Robin.

Also we work shifts so house occupied most of the time by someone..
i'm going to try awitching off fridge and freezer in garage and see if it makes a difference.

does the timer of tv's etc not go off when you switch tvs off at mains ?

If it's a modern TV (flat screen job) then it will be ok, the time and date and EPG etc come over the air via the transmitter and will be updated when you switch back on.
