So zopas ok, seems a bit steap on the up fornt fee and you could be waiting upto 3 weeks before you get the loan. but again good credit ratings, most people with good credit ratings already have the money to help themselves, were as folk like me, and folk a lot worse off than me are up poop creek if we need anything and have to risk [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM] companys [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM], and yes loans, tho to be fair yes loans actually did set me up with a lender who contacted me directly form there office, just at something daft like 60-70% APR for 2 years so 1k then = 2.4k + fee
think id rather just give my oney to passers by than take that offer.

Just for those who are looking at using the web to find an unsecured loan lender, give it a miss unless you have no choice, there are plenty of options out there and high street lenders away from the major banks.

So explore your options on foot first, keep credit searches to a minimum get the quote before you go ahead witht he search, and only have the search done in the event you actually want it.

Very worst case sell stuff you dont use or need, Have 1 of everything insead of 2, car share with folk or family instead of everyone having there own car, look at your bills and work out what you blow the money on and stay the hell away.

For the sake of living on the bare minimum for a few months you could live quiet happily for a lot longer after that, most folks desperation as it was with me and in my opinion is driven form a lack of willingness to alter your lifestyle even when its only for a short while. Bite the bullet and get on with it

Yep Zopa has always seemed a bit daft to be honest but I'm probably missing the point.

You get a lower APR but they charge over a ton in fees.....maybe I'm just thick.

On the other hand, at least Zopa actually LEND money rather than just take it.

By the look s of it the fee is added to you debit rather than demanded upfront

Give it up mate....you are going to be ripped off...how many times do you need telling
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

    What "up front fee?"

    http://uk.zopa.com/ZopaWeb/public/borrowing/loan-calculator/results.html?amount=5000&term=60&ppi=0:
No sneaky terms and conditions; our fee of £130.00 is included in the APR quoted above.

Yer my bad i did see that on there webs ite, but for anyone thinking these are the answer, be carefull if your credit score is poor, as mine might very well be they wont lend.
By there own admission there harder to borrow from than high street banks and have about a 50% rejection rate.

Also for anyone thinking fo applying for a credit card or loan, if you have payday loans active on your account you will be turned down. Obvious reason youve already borrowed money so why would someone lend you more if you already owe.

SnowTiger, the £130 fee is added to the amount borrowed and taken before you get the money. The effect of that fee being taken on the effective interest rate is added to the APR.

Declaration of interest: I both have a loan via Zopa and have lent via Zopa, though I'm not currently doing any new lending.

Good call on the comment about not lending could see you getting flooded with pleas for help.
Hard for most people to borrow money these days, as you either need an impecable credit score or have the mojority of the money ie apply for a top up loan.
Doesnt seem to matter how much evidence you take to show them its safe, like me 600 expenditure taken up by re-payments, 1 loan of say 1k repaid at say 80 a month, but ic ant have it as my score might be lower than they want or whatever, despite that fact i ill only have 80 in repayments mean 520 in spare feree and clear expenditure. It unfortunately all down to your credit score these days, common sense doesnt seemt o eb a factor anymore.

Makes me laugh that half the people who you talk to about loans cant have one themselves.

Funny ive decied to tighten the house hold belt to sort this debit out, who would have thought that stopping smoking would be easier that getting a reasonable loan!
