HELP WITH CREDIT CARD FOR 18 Year old

Why do you want a card so badly? Its too tempting to spend. I got one with £700 credit, ended up spending £500 in 2 weeks xmas shopping, just paid most of it off yesterday. I found it better managing to get a current account with a bit of an overdraft, its altogether and easier to manage then!

I got a Capital One credit card at 18, big mistake, high APR, excessive charges at the time. Only had a £200 limit but I spent it to the max one month, then started getting phone calls from their collections team, very aggressive, so I paid it off and never used it again or another credit card until I turned 24.
I've now got a HSBC gold card with a £0 balance because I am just not sure that if I overspent, I could pay it back effectively.

It is just too tempting, after seeing my hubby struggle with debt, I am even more cautious now and we maintain the philosophy, if we can't afford it, we can't have it and we're actually better off having no credit card that struggling to pay one back.
