'best' PAYG that isn't T Mobile?

Hi All,

Just wanting views on who is best for PAYG. We have moved from Easymobile to Fresh for the moment so that we can keep our numbers and move after Christmas, but not sure which way to go....

Idealy we would like to go away from T mobile as the coverage is not great in our area, but what are peoples thoughts?

Many thanks for any advice.

Regards,

AB.

I would personally say 02 Genie for free texts and calls.

Failing that if you would consider a contract and have a sim free handset UWDC offer a sim only deal, this is no minimum contract, you can keep your number and they offer 2 packages:

Clubcall: Landlines 10ppm, Mobiles 15ppm, texts 11.75ppt and £5pm rental
    Valuecall: Landlines 8ppm, Mobiles 8ppm, texts 7ppt

02 Genie sims can be found online at around £10 and are qorth a look I think.

message me for where to find one cheapest I know some good sites :)

I moved to Tesco whose tariffs are not bad. However they don't have online account checking, nor text delivery reports and have limited phone choice and fairly iffy tech support - I had to spend time on the phone to the manufacturer to work out that my ph was faulty. They aren't imo as good as EM. I thought of Virgin but they are too pricey for calls to other networks. If everyone you call is on Virgin, they are cheap. But....they use TMob's network.
Otherwise if you are only using it in the UK, pity about TMob as their tariffs are the best at the moment on their Everyone thing. But if UK only, why don't you see how you go at Fresh?
  • Fresh use T-Mobiles network so that will give you an idea of their signal. If you get a signal with them then you will with T-Mobile. I have found T-Mobile signal has improved drastically over recent years

Do UW still charge for a providing a PAC? Well hidden in the small print.

  • I've just switched from easyMobile to Tesco mobile..

Tesco (O2 network) does actually support delivery reports. See the following thread for how to use these with O2/Tesco:

Seems that at the moment only Fresh and Tesco Value/Extra tariffs are similar to the old easyMobile tariff, in terms of 5p texts and reasonably priced calls to other mobile networks.

  • Tesco Mobile is great: you get a choice of 3 tariffs, and texting can cost only 5p.

They use the O2 network, which is excellent.

You can get a balance anytime, free of charge.

All you need to transfer is an unlocked handset, and a PAC code if you want to keep your original number.

What you fail to say in your post is that UWDC (Telecom Plus) charge a monthly membership fee of £1.76p plus they charge a line rental of £5 a month clubcall, and £8 a month valuecall ,so you would be paying at least £81 a year for no inclusive minutes. Hardly money saving.

Also why recommend them anyway?,when you are no doubt aware as a distributor, they piggy back on T-Mobile ,and the op clearly states he would like to move on from T-Mob.
  • Hi All,

    Thanks for the replies.

Can someone tell me how the different tesco mobile tariffs work. It isn't clear to me from there website....

    Cheers,
