I've just found out that we can't claim tax credits.
My income is £200 net, my partner gets esa and is likely to lose it (mental health, got tribunal coming up - not optomistic).
Is there any other help available?

You need to state your circumstances to get specialised help.
Household income? Househould occupants? Salary? Hours? Other income (ie benefits?). Savings? etc.

I know you are stressed but thats a silly thing to say. If you thumped your boss you would get the sack. When you apply for JSA, you would be sanctioned, for up to 26 weeks. So thats no money at all for 26 weeks.
Is the £240 a week gross or net? Gross is £6 an hour, how old are you?
The government says you need £100 a week to live on (thats the couple JSA rate), you get more than that with your wage?
I know he is on ESA, but what is his outlook to working ? Is he getting help for his condition? Does he ever expect to work?
Have you applied for Housing benefit (social house) or LHA (private let)?
You never answered the questions on savings?
Thanks

£240 gross. No savings.
Can't see him working anytime soon.
How can they say that £100 is enough??
I've worked out a budget, which effectively means I cannot afford shoes or a trip to the dentist - both of which I badly need.
Where is the incentive to work??Leftie and proud :beer:0 -

Ha, join the club. I can't afford new clothes, shoes, a haircut - even tights. Life is tough but I am optimistic it will get better. You cut your cloth...0 -

£100 would be in addition to housing costs so you have around £50 per week more than you would have if you were both unemployed.
The Old Style Board can be very helpful if you post an SOA as people will help you to cut your outgoings.0 -

How do you work that one out?
If I signed on, I'd get my rent and council tax taid, plus £105. Council tax is £25 a week. That equals £210. That does not include free prosciptions, dental care etc.
At the moment, I take home £200 per week.
I have no incentive to walk to work tommorow, in leaking shoes with acheing teeth. None whatsoever.Leftie and proud :beer:0 -

I apologise, I misread your gross income as net.
However, you can increase your salary in the future with more experience etc. whereas living on benefits is a dead end street that is likely to get worst.0
