You will probably be able to connect if you use another browser. ie Opera or FireFox

But of course you will need a medium to transfer the browser files. :) You could probably share them over the Network, but that is more complicated.

Q 2 ) has he taken it out of the house and connected or tried to connect elsewhere No but the problems have got worse since virign installed the new modem and we have been using that with it's inbuilt wireless
Q 3) have you other wireless machines that will work, (eg DS1 or yours )laptops/phones/game machines. Yes mine and DS1's are working plus phones but the tablet is not responding well either
Q4) are either of these networks yours

Have you only got one router now then and is the password correctly entered on DS2 lappy. Also did the problem start with the new Virgin router?

No we still have both, we automatically connect to virgin but can disconnect and reconnect on our machines depending which is giving the best signal. Hubbie would have set up the password bit so I'm not sure about that but the fact that it won't work on either network makes me think that may not be the issue.

Switch off one of the routers, the Virgin one since that is new, so that you are only concentrating on one.
You will probably have an ethernet cable with one if the routers. It's got a square plug on each end and there will be a socket to match the plug in both the laptop and the router.
Use that to connect the laptop to the router and see what you get.
Your other computer will confirm that the router is providing an internet connection.
Once connected to the internet you can try the malwarebytes stuff.

I'll give this a go - I can't turn off the virgin one as it is a combine modem/router. Will it affect the other users whilst I do it - revision is in progress on the tablet at the moment for tomorrows history exam.

One other question (I know pain I am) , but what version of Windows/Other OS has the DS2 lappy got , whoops another question are the two routers using different channels? and another two or more
Have they got different SSID's (guessing so since you say he sees two) and how are the routers connected and have they both got DHCP turned on (not good) ..Sorry Dusty and worse still I am off for a while but these Q?s may help others :D

Going to use wired connection and update malwarebytes and run a scan as that needs to be done regardless of other issues - thanks.
