Right... that's not good. You aren't covered and will be committing an offence of driving without insurance. You need to ring the insurance company and find out how much it will cost. It may be not worth taking the job.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

If it's self employed you can claim 45p per mile from the £85 per week along with many other expenses. You'll probably end up with nil income and have no need to declare anything.

    Employed you can't do that.

so i wouldnt get any help if i was employed?

Yes but through HMRC and not through the benefits system. All it will do is reduce your tax bill and on £85 per week income you won't have a tax bill anyway.

Yes. Shop around at renewal time.

No JC won't help. They might be able to loan you the money to pay for it but you need to repay it.

Ring them up anyway. You might be suprised how cheap the add-on is. Even if you don't add it on now you know what the price is if a much better self employed opportunity arises.

Sorry my mistake I meant any job in which you need to use a car for work. It's just better as self employed if you are willing to drive for a living.
