i've had 3 sections and never once have i waited the 6 weeks to drive. i think i drove a car 1 week after my first section, i didn't even know you were meant to wait or phone insurance until my 3rd baby.

as for the 6 week check, i didn't get them until about 8 ish weeks with my last two babies, but with my first the doc came to my house she did blood pressure , asked to see baby and then gave me a lecture on why did i want to go on the pill i've had a baby i shouldn't even be havign s*x, she wasn't happy when i said i been having s*x since 2 days after section.she said hubby should leave me alone !!! she was a bizzare doc. she seemed to hate men and the thought of s*X i'm sure, her hubby was a fantastic doc tho, so i went to see him for the pill.

i also was pregnant 11 months after section and again, no one had any worries. i was told they advise to wait a yr but it doesn't matter too much. however i think i worry more if you've had a few sections and then fall preg quickly .

leos mummy I was weighed at my check up but it was because I was asking about the combined pill but I'm too fat for it lovely, so have to have a mini pill instead. Apart from the contraception it was blood pressure check and that was it, no questions about the scar or how I'm feeling or anything.

I was pregnant 8 months after my 1st section and no one ever said anything about being irresponsible etc I've only ever had mostly nice healthcare professionals - the odd moody one but not proper rude. The surgeon at my 3rd was even trying to convince me to have a 4th but we havent decided yet if we are going to have one more or not.

Re driving I've always waited but more because I've not needed to drive. This time I wish I'd tried sooner as the first time I had to drive myself it was to the hospital when DS was about 5 weeks and I was quite poorly and it had been a while since I'd driven, would have been nice to have a little practise locally first.

I think it differs between health trusts as to what their advice is on how long you 'should' wait before being pregnant again, my own GP had no problem, he knew I was planning another one and said no reason to wait so go ahead, but then most other people I saw said it was 'too early' (bit late now lol). And even though they kept on about needing constant monitoring during labour, I wasn't looked at in anyway apart from seeing how dilated I was. From everything they told me would happen during labour and vaginal birth following my CS, they worried me so much that I ended up in a right mess and had to see a counseller for a few weeks before the birth to keep me calm! they were really pushing me for an elective CS and really trying to put me off VBAC, naughty.

Despite an emergency c section for a ruptured uterus and placental abruption, I never had a check really. Well, I met with my consultant but he was more concerned about going over the events of what happened. No one has ever seen my scar, which is still numb and painful after 6 months. Now I'm pregnant again though so I guess it'll get poked quite a bit by various people!

A bit OT I know, but congrats purple :D

No-one's looked at it despite you still having problems with it? Did you tell anyone about it before getting pregnant again? Madness, don't they want to check you are ok.

Congratulations on the new one, I was pregnant 11 months after CS - be prepared for most medical professionals you come into contact with dropping into any conversation with you how irresponsible you are to get pregnant again without waiting 2 years for the scar to heal properly and how it's risky that the scar will re-open, you will need constant monitoring during labour and there will be other problems as it's 'so soon' blah blah blah. I heard this repeatedly for months. Despite all that I had a quick and problem free VBAC though.

Thanks for the congrats - when it all happened my consultant advised to wait for 6 months, which it has been. I personally wanted to wait a bit longer but after 1 time of not being careful I have gotten myself up the duff again! I am going for an early scan this afternoon and will ask them what my insides look like. It was all rather traumatic when it happened and the baby died after 9 days. Definitely no VBAC for me. I will be proceeding directly to elective C section at 37 weeks and hopefully this time i will take home a gorgeous bundle of baby

Driving yourself from the hospital? How did you get all the bags and car seat to the car? I couldn't even comfortably walk the eighteen miles (it felt like) from maternity to car park when oh was carrying the contents of our house!

I drove pretty quickly after the second section, because I had groups to attend and life goes on. But with the first I waited for the doc.

I have had 4 c sections and I drove as soon as I felt ready, usually about 3 weeks. I would love to have another baby, but when I asked the doctors at the hospital, they told me that although there was nothing in particular wrong with my uterus, they couldn't agree to me having a 5th. I have heard of people having 5 or more though, so I am wondering if different hospitals have different guidlines. It's only been 8mths since my last was born, so I have got a little wait yet though. Anyone successfully had 5 c sections?

They are pretty standard as what above been said.
6 weeks driving is just a guideline, first section I was driving after fourteen days as babies were premature was fed up of relying on lifts.
Second time was about three weeks and I drove.

i think it does depend on hospitals. and i can't see if your feel pregnant as an accident they would make you get rid or treat you any different to a planned one.

I've currently expecting our 4th child. had 3 sections prior, ( i emergancy, 1 baby over due, 1 baby breach) i very much wanted to push for natural as hubby and i want more children and i was worried i wouldn't be able to if i had another section.

Awww my conslutant was amazing. she said she is more than happy to give me4, 5, 6 section's if need be. as she feels there is more risk at trying natural than the risk from section. tbh i said to her , i don't know if we will have more. but the thought of not being able to really scares me. i want it to be our choice to not have more, rather than being unable to if that make sence.

i'm sure there is many a mum who has had 4 + sections who can give you more info hun.
