6 week post natal check up after c section

My Doc also asked about my plans for contraception in the future ...
I phoned my insurance company to ask about the driving thing and they, too, said that it's not a matter of getting permission from the doctor; it's just about leaving sufficient time for me to recover and for my c/section to heal. In my case, I chose to wait the full 6 weeks because I had trouble with the scar not healing properly.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

i will still make the docs app for later on - just won't be at 6 weeks due to them been fully booked!
When I had DS 3 months ago, the midwives etc all referred to it as the 6-8 week check, instead of 6 week check, and said it could even be 10 weeks (but preferably no more). So I wouldn't worry you can't get in at 6 weeks.
And neither time did they ever mention when to drive again, it's completely up to you and what you can manage.0 -
I had consultant led care and my 6 week check after 2 c sections was exactly the same as after my vaginal birth. So a chat about contraception, a pelvic exam to check the womb was back to normal size and pelvic floor was ok, and a few questions aimed at ascertaining whether there was any PND.
I was specifically told before I left hospital that I could drive whenever I felt ok to do so, provided my insurers had no restrictions, which they didn't. I was also under Direct Line. I had definitely driven, and resumed sex before all 3 of my post natal checks.
I think if I had been under my GP I would have been booked for the postnatal check at the same time as baby's first immunisations were due at 8 weeks and that was when baby had his postnatal check too.0 -
I think aslong as you feel comfy driving then you should be ok.
At my check up I had blood pressure checked, talked about contraception etc.
Just a wee question... has anyone been weighed at their check up? I was weighed (talk about knocking the confidence out of a woman who had just recently given birth!)0 -

God, no! I'd have cried on the spot! I've only just dared to step back on the scales in the last few months, and my "baby" is now a strapping 20 months....0 -
I know! People were so shocked when I told them! Some people just dont think0

Despite an emergency c section for a ruptured uterus and placental abruption, I never had a check really. Well, I met with my consultant but he was more concerned about going over the events of what happened. No one has ever seen my scar, which is still numb and painful after 6 months. Now I'm pregnant again though so I guess it'll get poked quite a bit by various people!0

No-one's looked at it despite you still having problems with it? Did you tell anyone about it before getting pregnant again? Madness, don't they want to check you are ok.
Congratulations on the new one, I was pregnant 11 months after CS - be prepared for most medical professionals you come into contact with dropping into any conversation with you how irresponsible you are to get pregnant again without waiting 2 years for the scar to heal properly and how it's risky that the scar will re-open, you will need constant monitoring during labour and there will be other problems as it's 'so soon' blah blah blah. I heard this repeatedly for months. Despite all that I had a quick and problem free VBAC though.0 -

I had my first by c-section and my 6 week check was just a quick look, a feel to check my uterus was in the right place and a chat about contraception.
The midwife said that the only reason they checked at 6 weeks - was that it was half way to 3 months - and the theory was that you should be back to normal (whatever that is) by 3 months!
As regards subsequent pregnancies I asked the GP how long i should wait before getting pregnant again and he checked with the consultant from the hospital. When I went back to find out the answer the GP told me that hospital advice was to wait 6 months.....
I just grinned at the GP and admitted that I was already pregnant for a second time - I have 16 months between them - and no2 was a section, as was no 3 21 months after that!
At that point I gave up as they were unable to install a zip!
I was told that the record for c-sections was 12 by someone in South America...but that could have changed because this all happened 17-20 years ago!:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -

That's nothing! I was pregnant again 4 months after my first c section. No one told me I had to wait, though number 2 wasn't exactly planned anyway. I also had a vbac but they only let me push for an hour before using ventouse in case the scar ruptured. I also wasn't constantly monitored during labour. I had a 13 hour labour and maybe saw the midwife 3 times during that period until I got to pushing stage.0
