Can I ask a possibly private question, and feel free to tell me to bog off, but with having osteoarthiritis, do you ever feel people dont take your health problems seriously? I facing a lot of problems because people cant SEE a physical disability or deformity they dont beleive its real. I wonder if thats why we struggle to get them to see the problems we face. I invite anyone to spend a day with me and see how, like yourself sometimes I sometimes have to use kitchen as bathroom (the most disgusting undignified thing Ive ever had to do). How my partner has to help me dress some days, and he makes a packed lunch for ME before he goes to work, just so I dont have to stand for a while preparing food etc! Even simple things like buying shoes (when I can afford to) isnt simple. Cant wear anything with heels, have to be supportive etc. I miss the days of sexy high heels!lol xxx
Oh I so know where you are coming from. Every single thing I do now is planned like a military operation. I have to pluck up the courage to get into the kitchen to cook a meal. I haven't been into our local town for over a year (I used to love to amble round the shops). I can't do it anymore.
I'm having a clinical assessment on the 23rd of this month to see if I'm eligible for knee replacements. I can't wait. I am praying I can get them.
The old saying 'you don't know what you've got till it's gone' is so true. I just want my knees back.
I know what you mean about the sexy shoes too. I'm still wearing a pair of flat boots that I have worn all winter - even on hot days - because they feel more supportive than shoes.
I really feel for you having to use your kitchen as a bathroom. I did it for over a year, and was in tears every day over it.
Just having a downstairs toilet has made the world of difference to me.0 -

Its funny how you havent quoted any of the other threads that ask if I would qualify for DLA and go into detail of daily struggle and medical ailments I have. I wonder if you maybe work for the SUN, they seem to like quoting out of context for humiliation!!
Not that Im going to justify myself, but that thread was put up for my sisters behalf. She is coming on holiday with us and does not have access to internet. She is taking my children to a theme park as I cant. I would quite happily show proof that I am no where near that size, as well as scan the medical notes that show weight is nothing to do with my health problems!
wouldnt it have been easy to have said my sister is overweight and she is coming on holiday with us?abi-em-mum83 wrote: »Self confidence is not a problem, and the depression is a recent thing, brought on by the situation, not caused by it.
So you suffer with depression due to your sister being over weight?
The reason i say this is because when you said about alton towers/blackpool you said your depression couldnt take it.
Or does your sister suffer with depresion aswell?0 -

Hi even at £700 we would really struggle to afford the rent as we would receive no help, its more than double our current rent, and with our income the way it is we just could not afford it unfortunately. We've spent so many hours going over figures, viewing private rents but on just the one income and small amount of tax credits we receive, and our expenditure being the bare minimum, we just cant make it stretch!Ideas, help and advice always welcome, judgements and assumptions are not!!:happyhearMarrying my Mr Perfect 20130 -
I second the person who said you need some welfare advice about your disability. It doesn't look like DIAL have Scottish offices how about
