Am I correct in doing this or not. Please advise.
 Many thanks!
Yup, keep the windows firewall turned off because you don't want to run two firewalls together. I had Norton but deleted it once it had expired and I don't miss it, it slowed my PC down to a sanils pace!
To your current set-up I would add, AVG anti-spyware to scan your PC for malicious programmes and Spywareblaster to stop some of the spystuff getting into your system and run run windows defender which I think is good at tracking downs worms and tojans. This is the set-up I have had for quite a few months now and have had no known problems so far.Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0

 It was an example.
The other person already saw it at 50% off on the Amazon site!

Just to put another spanner in the works, has anyone used F-Secure. It's had good reviews on Amazon (amazon reviews) but I wanted to get other MSErs thoughts. My Norton IS runs out soon and the 2007 version doesn't support Windows 2000 so I couldn't put it on anyway!0

 Great, thanks for that.
Windows does not recognise AVG as anti virus, is this correct?
I currently have a little red shield on my task bar as a windows security alert.
Please advise if this is normal.0

Had Norton on my last 2 laptops as part of a package l first thing I did was get rid of it as others have said it slows up your PC lke nothing else and does not stop all little bugs from attacking you, go with AVG and Zone Alarm. Go to any forum on IT and there are questions on how to get rid of Norton, speaks for itself.

Yes, it may not recognise it but as long as you know it is working that's fine. Seriously think about add ing some good spyware stuff tho as anti virus and firewall do not deal with everything. HTHLife's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0

Norton & McAfee are fine if you want your comp to run like treacle :rotfl:
Kapersky & Nod32 have the best detection rate0

I've never heard of this one but looking at the link it certainly looks as if it does everything Norton does, very impressive. Do you think it is as good as Norton, and would you really recommend it? Anyone else out there know anything about it, good or bad?
I know I sound really hesitant and scared to change, but I'm terrified of letting in the same kind of evil stuff we had before!
hi had it running for couple of weeks now without any probs would definetly recomend it i have heard of all the different suggestions made on this post so dont worry whichever one you decide should do the job0
