Why do sellers block their items they sold

I want to buy a item on ebay so i checked the sellers feedback and i can see the comments that the buyers have left but i cannot see what the items the comments are left for due to the seller putting the items on private. So as the items are not from a top shelf or a back room i was wondering why a seller have done this.

I always think it makes the seller look dodgy and avoid'The More I know about people the Better I like my Dog'

One reason to do it is if you are selling BIN items with best offer, by making the auction private buyers cannot see what the lowest offer you have accepted is.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. There's loads of reasons. I bought a rugby kit for my grandson and noticed the "private" bit when feedback was left. Posssible reason was that the seller had made the initial purchase on ebay and didn't want the original seller viewing the sale. It arrived quickly, brand new and saved me £30.
Can either of the first two members replying tell me what the dangers are in buying on a private auction?0 -
Personally I don't buy from sellers who have fb as private, as it looks like they've got something to hide. I would not know if they were hiding commercially sensitive information (e.g. buying one ebay and reselling), or something dodgy (e.g. negs/neutral feedback stating they are selling fakes)0

Sellers can't have private feedback so you don't need to worry about it. The OP was referring to the auction details being hidden because the items were listed as a private auction.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. You are not allowed to have private feedback, some sellers make their auctions/ sales private if they are selling sensitive items such as adult toys, some lingerie etc,as not all buyers want the world and his wife knowing they have a fetish or their bra size0
