Zoverstocks small vent!

As it's my OH's birthday next Friday, I ordered two DVDs for him from Zoverstocks on Amazon. I got an email saying that one of them had been dispatched, but not the other one. I assumed it was still being sent though, until the next day when I got an email from Amazon saying that I was getting a refund for one of them as Zoverstocks had cancelled the order!

Was a bit annoyed that they hadn't been in touch so I sent them this:

Hi there,
I have just received an email regarding my order with you for Doctor Who series 4 that I am getting a refund as you have cancelled the order, is there a reason for this?

They replied with this: Hello,

Thank you for your email.

With regard to your enquiry, this may be due to the item not pssing the
inspection stage. We feel it would be totally unacceptable to send a faulty item
to our customers. Thank you.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further queries.

Regards,

Customer Services
Z Overstocks

Not even an apology! Not very impressed at them not knowing a definite reason either. Have ordered it again through Amazon, good job I checked my email when I did or it could've been too late to still order it on time!

Whats the problem, so the order was cancelled, at least they told you rather than leave you waiting, i have seen that same reason for orders cancelled though
  • The problem is that they didn't tell me, I only found out when I got the email from Amazon saying that I was getting the refund. It doesn't seem very personal just saying it may have been the item not passing the inspection stage. I've ordered another one now, my vent was at their customer service.

The other Zoverstocks threads are more amusing. This one is far too sensible. :)

I also ordered Doctor Who Series 3 from them as he's a big fan of David Tennant but hadn't seen all of his episodes.
They were in two different orders though as I couldn't see any way of grouping them together in the same one. That's why I got the email about Series 3 being dispatched so had been waiting for the other one dispatching.
  • The "failed disc inspection" is the standard excuse for not having a copy to send to you. The reason they don't have a copy to send to you is because the one copy they did have was listed on multi sites and it had sold elsewhere before your order was processed. This is what they do and this is the reason why people get cheesed off with them. It has happened to me numerous times in the past.
I have also received some very shabby items from them, so I don't believe their is much in the way of disc inspections at all. I just don't buy off them anymore.
They also refund on the grounds of accusing you of price manipulation. This is because their price adjusting software reduces a penny below the cheapest seller and it can sometime get to the point of stupidity in terms of price. The person who buys the item at the super low price thinks they have got a bargain, but.......they never receive it. Zoverstocks realize in the order processing stage how low it's gone and don't want to sell it for that price. They then accuse the buyer of price manipulation and issue a refund. If you challenge them on it, be it at your peril....you will be threatened, junk post bombarded and spammed to death by e-mail.
They are an ethically incorrect business.
I know there are also many sellers who are livid with their tactics.:(

I was suspicious that the reason could be that they just didn't have it! When I searched for it to buy a replacement they didn't have a listing at all for it which I was quite surprised at as they seem to be selling almost everything I search for.
I'd seen posts on here from angry sellers about their pricing before but didn't realise they were cancelling orders if they got too low. They still have a high rating although maybe if they've cancelled the order people can't leave feedback?
They are often cheaper than Amazon even when you have to pay for P&P so had used them before in the past but it's put me off using them as they don't seem that concerned about good customer service like some of the 'smaller' sellers. Will just pay the few pence extra next time I think.
