my 3 experience with simply-fone
first post so..yikes!
for past few weeks i been reading all these posts and MSE recommendatons about the s-fone 07744 974 363 numbers as free internatinal calls
from mobiles with trepidation cos i also read that 3 did not accept calls [or rather charged for them]
anyway, i'm on 3 and got my bill last week with charges of £80 !
i went nuts (although i gotta say s-f were extremely supportive and very quick to answervemails etc..) and got thru to a big-shot at 3 Glasgow headoffice and made a real stink about this.
To cut long story short - i rec FULL CREDIT and an email to me GUARANTEEING that i would not be charged by 3 for any call to 07744974363 or 07744974333 (i used both) unless Ofcom gave a prpoer ruling permitting them to charge.
i actually passed my email to the s-fone company too but.... If anyone has a problem out there or is scared to use 3 for these free calls , i'm happy to pass on my email (although to safeguard me i would take off all personal bits about me!)

Could you PM me that email as well please?
After talking to some guy in India for 45 mins, he said this number is a "personal service" number and calls to these numbers are not included in the free minutes, only normal UK mobile numbers apply, so didn't get anything, except a headache!0 -
May I request a copy too please? I haven't used S-F from 3 yet, but I did have a chat with them (3) 10 days ago - no dice.
Sent a query to Ofcom a month ago - nothing - time to phone.0 -
A friend of mine tells me that 3 are now charging and play a recorded announcement before the call telling you so...

Hi all, received the following reply from 3 after emailing them complaining that the 077449 number is to be charged as a mobile number and not a personal service number:
As per your email below, this is a personal numbering service put in place by the user of this number. As per Ofcom, this is being charged as a mobile number, but will not be included in your free minute allowance. This is an income number, where the user of this receives a small payment for every time someone calls this number, and hence the non inclusion of this number. Please find out from the user of this number if there is an alternative contact numbers. In some cases due to what network the personal number is set up on, there will not be a charge, but these numbers are charged across all networks. These will continue to be charged as a mobile number. If you have any further issues, please call our customer services line on 08707 330 333.

So although they agree it's to be charged as a mobile number, how can they justify not including it in my free minute allowance??
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.0 -
simply-phone actually have on their website that 3 will charge for these calls.
I do know people who've rec refunds from 3 but it's probably just luck of the draw and ignorant cust.services staff.
Truth be told as its a mobile number it should be inclkuded in network minutes anyway but 3 billing and service [normally from mumbai or ahmedebad etc] are so poor anyway that......
but from orange/tmobile & o2 it's perfectly free.0 -
Yes, but what is 3s policy on this? why are they giving refund to some and not to others? That's what I can't understand. I can guess it might be down to the individual person that you're speaking to.0
