Wow! Thanks BLF, so kind of you to reply with all that. Confirms what I thought, but just wanted a view. Very many thanks.

Re the Scottish Friendly, I would also always avoid ALL bonds, and am too old for their bond plan anyway. Just thought the UK companies might be an option for a bit. When I did my FPC diploma (Financial Planning diploma), the lecturer (an IFA) mentioned them - NOT recommending specifically but didn't say avoid - possibly better if you're on 40% tax bracket. I thought timing might be good with everything so volatile, but I would obviously be digging deeper into their performance before committing to 10 years with them.

    Thanks so much. You're wonderful!!

I took out a S.F 10 year bond during late 80s only two good things about it was :

    1. I was able to keep it going to maturity - had I not done so surrender values are woeful.:(

    2. Had I not taken out the plan I probably wouldnt have saved the amount that I did so the maturity funds was a bonus against not having saved anything for what were ten "rollercoaster" years.

Thanks very much for taking the time out to pay your compliment :T we will have to have lunch sometime. :D

Thanks, again, BLF. I have followed your posts for years, so know how much you and others contribute to this thread.

I also love Dunstonh, who gives so much time to the board. Again, this is SF bond, and I have always avoided bonds. Will still investigate the SF performance on the UK Companies, but take on board Dunstonh's comment about large inherent costs within the funds. Hmmm. Yes, working it out in my mind as we speak. They seem to be very much along the lines of the old endowments, but perhaps without the life assurance element, which have been disparaged in the UK, but which I had (and in fact sold - but not missold! - when I was in South Africa).

Again, thanks so much for your time and thoughts. You're really helping to clarify things. Am now off to get ready for lunch, and wish you were with us!

    Thanks
    Jen

Don't know if this has been posted, but had email today from TCB and saw this in the corner of it ... "Girls date for free - £3.53 for registration".

Tracked in after 15 minutes ;)

Usually they require a photo to consider it as a "complete registration" !!

I got this rejected many times elsewhere so did not do it on TCB;)

I got mine...but the tracking there, seems to be poor recently for me ...:o

Here are the most recent genuine leads that I have supplied via Quids Corner that have tracked -

Payments are made on the 1st of each month for all the redemption requests made on or before the 20th of the previous month so another 9 days to go to make September payment run on Quids Corner and related sites. :)

Two more Cashback Sites who had a business plan of paying its members after it was paid itself now appear to be no longer in business. :(

    http://www.earn-some-cash.co.uk http://www.amyscashback.co.uk/

Significance of what tracks on Quids Corner and its related sites is that they are also instant confirms :T so no risk of MSE members wasting their time and precious genuine leads like they have done via several Cashback Sites who disappeared leaving its members many of them MSE members empty handed. :(
