Morning all!
I don't post on the daily threads all that often but I think I'll be around much more now!
A gorgeous day here yesterday which was spent applying for jobs (in the morning) and walking in the peaks with friends in the afternoon. This morning has been spent trying to tame my hayfever which, after 6 successful weeks of antihistamines, has raised it's mean head and struck me down. Almost impossible to do much when it's at it's worst. May need to make a trip to the Dr and see if they can give me anything that will keep it under control.
Spending today making an oilcloth liner for an old tray, and pottering round tidying/clearing things in preparation for starting to make progress on winter prep.
Also going to look how badly damaged our greenhouse is (*grrrrr* the little so-and-sos round here can't leave anything alone!) and see if it is cost-effective to try fixing it up or just remove it and put in a new one in a slightly better area of the garden...I'm leaning towards removing it I think, it's just Dad who wants to keep it where it is I think. May just take it out and put in some fencing and then spruce the little side garden up a bit when he's away for a few days!
Hope everyone is enjoying the weather wherever you are************************************

Rant alert:mad:
!!!!!! work are really taking the p***!!
Got a letter today from Matron...saying I have to go to a review meeting for my sickness as I have been off for over 2 weeks....it is on 16th June....my last contracted day is the 22nd! It is to discuss the sickness and how they can facilitate my return to work! !!!!!!???
She has put in another letter dated same day acknowledging receipt of my resignation letter and has said I need to hand my uniforms and name badge back in to personnel. That is all....no sorry you have had to leave, thanks for the last 22 years of your life.
Oh and the icing on the cake is the fact that she has called me Vicky in both letters which is not my name:eek:....just goes to prove you are just a number these days....they dont even know your name:(
I will not be going to said meeting...what they going to do...sack me?
She has warned in the letter I may be put on a stage one formal record...like I give a rats !!! about that now?
It has sooooo confirmed I am best out of it!!!!!0 -
What ho chums!!!! What a glorious day!! (Shame I'm looking out at it through the office window)
Welcome to all newbies! :T
bargainbird The war years are my favourite era too - just because everyone pulled together and the community spirit was so strong. But I doubt that it was quite as good to live through as it is to look back on through our rose-tinted spectacles.
redruby Glad your dad is settled and here's hoping your mum has a good mini-break.
Jackie O - Happy Birthday to Henry and thank you for the information on the Mark Cross Bone Cancer Fund.
Loulou Is the Imperial War Museum in Leeds? If so then I've been there and can highly recommend it. It was over 10 years ago now but we spent the whole day there and still didn't get around everything!!!!
Cheapskate I LOVE decluttering!!! I'm a bit of a fiend!!! I used to be a bit of a hoarder but then had a huge declutter and made the house quite minimalistic - if I didn't LOVE it or it wasn't useful then it went! The idea was to simplify my live so that I could feel comfortable in a more open-feeling space, find stuff when I needed it and make housework a doddle as hardly any knick-knacks to dust. I loved it soooo much that I can't abide to have clutter now. I love the feeling of getting rid of stuff - I find it so liberating and freeing.
Bitsy How is Daisy doing?
Sistercas ((hugs)) You're obviously having one of THOSE days. Time to panic-phone anyone you know (and trust) with a freezer to see if they can store your stuff while you sort it out - hopefully it's just the fuse....
freudianslip Sounds great! Am I invited???I've tried looking for ice lolly moulds everywhere - no luck so far.
NPM Is there any chance that they've sent you the wrong letter? As it seems to be saying something that's not really pertinent to you when you're leaving anyway and they've got your name wrong?? Just a thought.... If it is meant for you then that's just totally ridiculous and I'm not surprised that you're upset. Some people just love to kick you when you're down and twist the knife - don't know what they get out of it but let them get on with their own spiteful lives and don't waste any more of your life on them. Take a deep breath, look at your son, smile and look forward to the rest of your life.... :lovethoug
Tea tonight is left-over sausage in onion gravy from the freezer with chips as I'll be in late - going food shopping on the way home. I prepared next week's menu and the shopping list last night so I'm good to go.
Right - off to check how my eBay stuff is getting along.....
Love to all

no it is def mine! There is another letter in there with it...also saying Dear Vicky....accepting my resignation etc
I am not going to meeting.
I am also going to wait until I am paid at end of the month and I will send a copy of her letter to our CEO to show him how much the staff are valued as this is the type of letter they get when they leave...no wonder morale is so low0 -
Afternoon all
Friend who came over for breakfast brough 15 bottles of posh fruit juice & 3 bottles of champers with her for use at the feast. I've been to Hobbycraft & got sticky dots, doublesided tape & thread to embroider name on a PE Bag. Now I'm off to hang some washing on the line, have a cuppa in the sun in the garden & then back to the sewing machine.
Hugs Hester

NPM - Good lord does the right hand know what the left is doing?! or is the stupid woman on autopilot
Still rest easy knowing you'll not be going back. And if they ring to see where you are on 16th just point out them that letter was addressed to Vicky and you name is <insert here> so you assumed it was for someone else
Hester - remind me cause I am thick, when's you're handfasting?
Baby bird is now dead, poor thing and has been removed to the binSorry can't bury her as Mia will just dig her up, dead I can just about deal with, dead AND dirty.....no
Save - Daisy cat is very slowly improving. She's showing more signs of wanting to get back to normal routine ie just up on chest freezer to where her food was normally kept  She can't manage it of course but the mind wants toShe goes back to the vets this afternoon so hope they'll be pleased to see her improvement. Still very wobbly but she's keen to go out in the garden on her lead and she's used her litter tray once on her own. Baby steps but all in the right direction.

Afternoon all,
Another lovely day here....must tidy up as DD2 and girls have gone with her cousin for a picnic so have a couple of hours to get the floors free of toys, pens, paper, the usual carp that small children involve.
Have packed for our week in Kerry...I tell a lie, stuff is all on our bed waiting to go into cases....I pack very frugally when flying but when we have the car I seem to need everything in the the house and every stitch of clothes we own....can anyone explain this problem???
Hester, you are so organised, hope that the weather holds for handfasting or at least comes back for the day....my 'baby' DD4 will be 30 that day.
NPM...hugs, don't let the illegitimi get you down, you will never have to see any of them again....might for badness think of sending formal note to say that you will not be attending meeting on 16th as 1)you assume the letter was sent to you by mistake instead of to someone called 'Vicky' and 2) your period of notice finishes on 22nd so you therefore see no point to such a meeting.
OH has decided to cook a bbq this afternoon.....nobody to eat except him and me but that won't stop him so had better get my arras in gear and assist....oh god I hate being assistant!!
Hugs to all in need or want, may not be round for a week or so
