Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 03/06/11 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all!! it is TOO hot to sleep here  I've been up since about 4. BUT! my strawberries are so nearly ripe! tomorrow i reckon :j
it's as too hot to straighten my hair. - Am i imagining this heat?!
Washing machine is on, no idea what to do for my lunch/dinner too hot to eat really and have no salad things in, so might have to admit defeat and get a lunch from the shop.
Lots to do this weekend! Have got myself a free desk from work so i can turn my spare room into a study for when i start to do my naea qualifications. So need to clear the room out, as we've just used it as a junk room for things that don't have a home elsewhere.
Lots of clothes to wash, It's free listing on ebay this weekend so i really need to get my bags etc on there tomorrow or sunday too.
ohhh yeah! all this talk of eden camp made me google it, and i'm quite dissapointed it's the other end of the country! But OH and I have decided to go to the Museum of Rural Life together (maybe at the end of the year though as him being rural and all that means he's out in the feilds all the time while it's good weather!)
Have a lovely day all!!

Morning all, had a lovely day out yesterday, so today have invited my friends and their children over for a pizza lunch and then bbq. Will put all the children in their swimming kit and get the sprinkler out - then they can have fun and my veggies will be watered too - result. Have got meatballs out of freezer to make mini burgers and chicken to make kebabs from. Will have rocket and lettuce and onions from the garden, with some sort of pudding made from what we have in the cupboards. Will be a nice, and cheap day. x
Haven't ventured into any other rooms yet as am still having my coffee, but from the state of the sitting room it looks like I'll have my hands full tidying up this morning! enjoy the good weather all xxMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -

Morning all, new in this forum.
Had a lovely day yesterday, we bought a chiminea if thats how you spell it and last night us and our 3 kids cooked baked potatoes in foil in it and we had real butter in them - never tasted such a good spud then we did baked bananas in foil split them open and melted choc buttons in them along with toasted marshmallows.
I woke up at 5 this morning so just done a load of paperwork that had mounted up over half term before the kids get up, so feel good about that.
I have ordered a bread maker so hoping that comes today so I can try my own bread for the first time, saw an ice-cream maker on the grabbit board but in two minds as I dont have much room in freezer to store the bowl.
Making Jamie Oliver sausage rolls and mackerel pate from 30 mins meal today for lunch, already had it once this week but lovely. Also making flatbread with something or other for tea - not decided yet.
Mass watering of garden plants in a bit and let rabbits out to play.0 -

Bargain bird hows your back?

Good Morning chums its a beautiful day today and the sun is blazing away already.I am off to see my DGD Henry as its his birthday today he is 10, and I know he will want Granny to take him to Toys-R-Us to spend his birthday money .I want to pop to Rochester to get a book for my friend that she saw there, so it will be a too-ing and fro-ing day today .Probably be at DDs tonight for Henry's dinner and cake.
Tomorrow I have a blue badge walk around Greenwich with my Uni class which will be good, then on my way home I am stopping off for lunch at my eldest DD in-laws to drop off some cards I have made for their friend to sell next month at the Danson show in Danson Park.
Jill Cross has been raising money for her OH's bone cancer charity since he died in 2003 and has raised almost £78k.So when she does a local fair I always try to make stuff she can sell to raise some more cash. Its the Mark Cross Bone Cancer Fund,(google it and it tells you what she has done all off her own bat) He was my DDs best man at their wedding and my son-in-laws best friend. His two sons have been amazing in their support of theiir Mum as they were quite small when Mark died. She is a fantastic lady who has channeled her despair into trying to raise funds for research into this dreadful discease. So if anyone is in the Welling area of Kent on 2-3rd July try to go and see what a great amount of work has gone on and maybe buy some cards to help Jill raise even more cash for the fund. She certainly is an inspiration to lots of people
Well time to get a wriggle on and have some breakfast Toasted banana sandwich I think and a large pot of coffee to energy.Hope everyone has a brilliant day and gets done all they have to
Cheers chums

Morning All,
Its a glorious sunny day here, at last. :j
Happy Birthday to Henry JackieO I hope he has a great day
Glad to hear your mum is getting some respite Redruby, and that dad has settled well.
Not much to report here, keeping busy, I have a lot on at the moment. My DS1 is coming back from his residential week with the school, I am looking forward to seeing him and hearing all about his adventures. No doubt he'll be exhausted and hyper, but as long as he has changed his socks I will be a happy mother.DS2 came back from his weekend with the Cubs in the same socks he left in, apparently he "forgot" I gave him clean ones
Have a lovely day everyone.

Morning all
Hubby's been dropped at the station with his packup, I've fed next doors cat & cleared the litter tray, I'll groom her this evening & I've fed the fish.
I've been to Sainsbury's as I had a gift voucher with £6 left on it, I've stocked up on Mamade, it's £1.48 & I can't find anywhere else that sells it, I bumped into an old work colleague & had a natter.
Yesterday evening I went for a manicure, a belated mothers day present from DD2, via Groupon. I have the sewing machine set up & ready to go.
I have croissants in the oven as I'm expecting a visitor about 9ish, I need to go water the veggies in a sec before she gets here.
This afternoon I'm going to hobbycraft as I need some velcro dots to close my wedding favour boxes.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester
