Yes its appeared again the wonderful Lindt con.
To check sites this site is good. For line of something looking dodgy is when the owner on that site is hidden by proxy (anonymous)

The lindt offer has been posted several times now. For those who post it again please see this. The site owner is hidden unlike most sites the owner has decided to hide his/her identity, surely that raises supicions alone. Now look at this post HERE If you search on google that web address you seem other posts where users have voiced concerns about that site
"Credit due to JoggersPark for sharing what they may think is a legitamet offer. However, I have to agree with the majority of people here. Many of the tell-tale signs are there that this is a harvesting site. A site doesn't require an e-mail address to be supplied for phishingAs MumboJumbo points out, the site features Google AdWord listings - on a 'promotional' site this is huge indicator that something isn't quite right. Afterall, few businesses promote other rival companies on their actual pages - especially on campaign ones. The person that set it up is hoping to gain revenue from click-throughs from a small number of visitors. Plus data may well be sold on afterwards, if actually captured at all (sometimes the data is disregarded altogether, with Google placement stats and AdWord revenues being reasons for setting up such sites).
As a slight precaution, there is the chance this site includes one of the new style payloads called a rootkit. Now while most people are aware of viruses and spy or malware, rootkits are the 'latest' pretty vicious means of attack, which exploit vunerabilities in a system and can easily, discretely be installed through a browser without any knowledge. Unlike a virus, which is a file, rootkits actually hide in folder data and are much harder to discover. I'm not stating this site has one but do be careful and make suire your system protection is upto date. There are free Rootkit checkers available to try if you're concerned but this is a cutting edge area of technology. The level of protection available is much lower than with anti-virus or malware.
Hope I haven't scared anyone but thought it was worth explaining why the site might not be legitamet. Of course if everyone that fills in the form gets chocolate then well done0 -
thank you John for the info. I have never thought it could happened, but thanks to your advice I will be more aware in the future.
thanks again, regards, Yolanda0 -
A known "scam" sticky with information about WHOIS lookups would be quite useful I think. Especially for newer members who haven't seen them all come and go.~Diminutive0
