:rotfl::rotfl:
They weren't in mine when I passed.
I think they may have had the bloke with the red flag though.
Didn't think there was a driving test for the horse and cart lol (only pulling your leg) :rotfl::rotfl:Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
Thanks again folks.
mrmart - it must have happened somewhere near the large crossroads near the St. George's Hall, heading towards the city centre, but the photo, whilst showing my car as clearly as mustard doesn't show a street view at all.
Sarahg1969 - thanks for the pepipoo link, I'll log on when I'm at home later and give it a blast. Same to you Welshdebtor, thanks for the link.
Having taken the advice of a few respondents I have google street viewed my route and still couldn't see any road markings, so I may well just have a quick saunter around over the weekend.....if I can work out which street the picture was taken on!!
Otherwise, it's cheque writing time on Monday.0 -
CCTV is pretty much the standard for bus lane enforcement, either by static cameras or the ever growing smart car with extendable camera pole!
At best all the OP is likely to have seen is a couple of stills taken from the video!
Bradford do use CCTV's, which as you point out is now the standard
They also have a mix of 24hr and "timed" bus lanes in Bradford. I think i am right in saying there should be signs at the start of the bus lane and road markings there after. Do not know if it is still ongoing but Bradford was trialing "virtual" bus lanes as well. These virtual bus lanes however would not have any effect on this case. End of Bus Lane geek Update
Here to learn and pass on my experiences.

This link mentions CCTV locations, see if your route took you down any.

My reply still stands, ignorance isn't defence but if the OP goes back and checks that there are no signs missing. There also maybe signs the op missed indicating that it was infact a bus lane with signs displaying "this is a bus lane from xam to xpm", clearly if the end time is 7pm and he was in there after that then ticket is in correct.
Instead of trying to be a smart !!!! read what others have typed!!!
Rude. It is clear that CCTV is used for bus lane enforcement. I wasn't being smart.
The fact is that the council has to abide by the law in relation to what it writes on its PCNs, how it uses CCTV, how it signs its bus lanes, etc.
And yet you have dismissed all of that, and told the OP that his only defence would be if the signage was wrong. That is very bad advice.
Just as drivers must abide by the law, so must the councils if they wish to effectively enforce bus lanes and parking, etc.0 -

You gave a smart reply regarding my personal viewing of the CCTV, which clearly I wouldn't have done.
I stated ignorance isn't a defence and it isn't, if there were no visible signs, notices etc stating it was a bus lane or permitted times to be in the bus lane then he may have a case to argue. IF it clearly is marked as a bus lane and is a 24 hour bus lane and the OP was in the wrong why shouldn't he pay the ticket??.
My advice is my opinion it is not fact. The OP could waste a lot of his time fighting a claim over a spelling mistake or incorrect time stamp on the CCTV but if they have done everything right he will still have to pay the fine. So not only has the OP wasted his own time fighting the claim for driving in a bus lane but he has also wasted the courts time etc all of which is paid for by everyone else.
BTW OP i'm not saying you are guilty it could have been a genuine mistake, but as they say "If you can't do the time don't do the crime". Its all these legal loopholes that allow serious offenders to get off from a serious crime!!Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
They are not loopholes. They are points that are clearly written into the law. All the council has to do is follow the rules regarding its CCTV enforcement, its road signs, its lines and the wording on its tickets. They have it all written for them in black and white, and all they have to do is copy it. If it can't do that, then it must fail. The rules are there to be followed by everyone - the driver and the enforcer alike.0

weighty1 if you were driving towards the city centre with st. georges hall on your right and then city hall on left and continued straight on it becomes 24 hour bus and taxi access only.0

No it's red tape (and political correctness) that lets serious offenders escape prosecution.......
It's easier to chase and prosecute small offences, they're instant closed cases. You do something wrong, you get fined. You break the speed limit you get fined.
Police don't like crimes that take weeks/months/years to bring to prosecution, unsolved crime makes them (and come election day, the govt) look bad.
It's like with drivers who register fake details and have no insurance, they're hard to trace, especially if they're not native British. These are crimes the Police don't want to get involved in.
The problem is not loopholes, the problem is the red tape faced by the Police.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
