Bus Lane Fine

I'm guilty of this one on a regular basis, on this road. The best part is that the other lane turns into a right turn only lane eventually, so they have to let me past before changing lanes.0 -
Thanks for all the quick replies. On the grounds of going with the majority I think I'll just pay up.
Martinthebandit - it was in Bradford
Fivetide - I'd rather not go round the area again, as i've no idea at which point I entered the bus lane, so would probably end up doing it again!!
ZenUK - I will check the time that the bus lanes are valid, however, there was photographic evidence which states the time on it, so presumably it was still limited to a bus lane.
Thanks once again folks

Hi Guys/Gals,
Just looking for a bit of advice in a time critical fashion.
I've recently received 2 fines from a local council for entering a bus lane at approximately 7:30pm each time. Each fine is £60, with a 50% discount for payment within 14-days.
I'm wondering if I have a case to contest this due to the following:
The area I was in is not very well known to me.
Irrelevant. In fact it can be argued that because you don't know it very well, you should have been paying MORE attention to the signage.0 -
When driving to a new area im always taking extra care for any signs i need to be aware of, was the bus lane not indicated as so by bus lane painted on the roadNo Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20

You presume that the desk jockey issuing the fine actually knows what they're doing.

Just an idea but look on google streetview to see the area and see if you can easily read off from the signs or at least make out where the bus lanes start and finish.
Where in bradford did it happen? The city centre has areas that are bus access only and it could be easy to mistakenly end up in one of these areas.0 -

Excellant early post fella, better than most of the "get me out of jail" requests seen to often here.
But I'd still check the route again, take a driver or observer just to ensure you actually did miss something rather than some one else screwed up;);)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
the rules of the road are the same wherever you are in the country
Not sure about that TBH - I was baffled by the red lines on the road in Birmingham, never seen them up hereTotally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy0 -
You don't mention it in the original post, but everyone else has assumed that you were in a car. Is that the case? If you were on a motorbike, you are allowed to ride in some bus lanes - it depends on the local council's rules.0

REd routes. have them in London too. That was where I first saw them. Even have a Red Route Patrol of parkies to dish out tickets!
5t.What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0
