As others have said really ignorance is no defence, but I would still go back and check the area to make sure the signs aren't missing etc that would be the only grounds for defence. Good luck

Here to learn and pass on my experiences.
Had a total of £8200 of debt written off due to harassment during 2010 and 2012.

It's pepipoo that you need, OP.

Someone will take a look at the ticket for you, and should be able to advise re the CCTV, too.

You may have made a mistake, but the council may have too, and they've got rules they need to abide by.

You have seen all the CCTV evidence and the ticket, and all is OK, yes?

Please quote the post where it mentions there is CCTV evidence?? There is mention of photographic evidence but not CCTV.
My reply still stands, ignorance isn't defence but if the OP goes back and checks that there are no signs missing. There also maybe signs the op missed indicating that it was infact a bus lane with signs displaying "this is a bus lane from xam to xpm", clearly if the end time is 7pm and he was in there after that then ticket is in correct.

Instead of trying to be a smart !!!! read what others have typed!!!

Not sure about that TBH - I was baffled by the red lines on the road in Birmingham, never seen them up here

Have you passed a driving test? They are in the Highway Code you were required to know to pass.

To be fair a lot of people passed there test a good few years ago and if they don't live in or near a major city things like this are likely to have slipped there mind. Of course they should know it as part of the highway code but if its not familiar it soon becomes forgotten.

CCTV is pretty much the standard for bus lane enforcement, either by static cameras or the ever growing smart car with extendable camera pole!

At best all the OP is likely to have seen is a couple of stills taken from the video!

Fully understand that I was just picking up on someones smart !!!! reply when CCTV wasn't in fact mentioned. Most buses have a camera running and stills would be used as the evidence from that camera.
