Can't Believe it!

My credit rating is very very poor at the minute. So much so I get refused for everything I apply for. However this morning I applied to Three (3) for an iPhone on contract and they have approved me :T

I didn't have to give any deposit etc and my upfront cost was only £19.00. Has anyone else heard of them being lenient?

And I bet it costs £35 a month for 24 months.
    Only £840 total.
    Very lenient.

Hmm, wrong side of the bed today? :p

It's a standard iPhone tariff so not exactly 'sub-prime' if you wish to look at it that way. Given the phone alone is £510 then £330 is the cost of calls etc which over the 24 months is £13.75 which works out cheaper than an equivalent sim only contract.

Nobody can deny the iPhone is expensive but that's just the way it is. Even if you pay a large upfront fee, £335.99 for example on O2 you still pay £26.50 a month for just 100 minutes and 500 texts.

So yes you do pay a lot, but it's just the way it is sadly.

    Easy company judge's you differently.

However, you said you applied this morning. Are you sure you are not still just pending acceptance on a credit check.

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies

'Three' are known to be the least 'choosy' network, especially if you go to a shop.

    3 mobile & 1phone 4 on contract - unbelievablely accepted today

3 contract given to 17 year old!

Oh well, at least you've justified it to yourself. Good luck selling that iPhone for £510 in 24 months times!

least acceptance criteria as the networks so bad, I left them last month after 6 years
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

No, it arrived this morning but I was out.

Hmm, I can't condone a 17 year old getting a phone for legal reasons but everyone else is obviously at the companies discretion.

I have no idea why people on this forum act in the manner in which they do? I read another thread where an individual asked for advice on a loan. She was torn to shreds!

We are not talking about a sub-prime 'payday' loan or product. Rather it is a mainstream brand and with a network who offer a product that falls firmly in line with other offers. If you sign up to any monthly iPhone offer then you're tied for a minimum of 18 months and with a minimum bill of around £25. People either accept this, or they use a PAYG sim or phone.

Granted in 24 months the phone will not be worth £510, but neither would it be worth £510 if I bought it outright. In this day and age you either accept your iPad, iPhone, (insert gadget) will be outdated pretty quickly and get on with it. Or you live under the radar talking about the good old days, winding up your wireless radio and wetting yourself for the start of The Archers.

Clearly you fall into the Archers camp.

I'm glad another poster sees things that way. ;)

I use forums for the wealth of advice offered. If I see something I think is flawed logic I may gently point this out to the OP. However if I merely have an opinion that is polar opposite to the OP, and declaring this adds nothing to the thread, I keep my mouth shut.

Weird response. You wrote: "Given the phone alone is £510 then £330 is the cost of calls etc which over the 24 months is £13.75 which works out cheaper than an equivalent sim only contract."

I was simply pointing out that in my opinion your figures are wrong. But you've already admitted that: "Granted in 24 months the phone will not be worth £510, but neither would it be worth £510 if I bought it outright."

And I was wishing you good luck on selling your shiny new toy for £510 in 24 months.
