  • I quite enjoy pasta with sweetcorn and salad cream. I love heinz, but cheaper brands will push down the price.
Alternatively, try different veg like mushrooms and onions etc :) in season vegetables are best to use to cut costs.
Not sure of the price but I'm very confident this is a very cheap mail depending on your brand choices.

This is my sons' fave and has got to cost 50p or less for 2 people!

    Tin of cheap beans
    2 hotdogs chopped
    Mashed potato
    Cheese (optional)

Mix the hot dogs with the beans, divide into 2 microwaveable or oven proof bowls.

Spread the mashed potato on top, and top with cheese if desired.

Warm it through and grill if you like a crusty topping. :D

  • Corned beef hash is good and cheap, a couple of boiled potatoes, large onion diced and a couple of slices of cheap corned beef fry in a little oil until its all soft and serve with tomatoes or baked beans... If I cook jacket potatoes I put extra in the oven and use them the next day for the hash.. piling it all in the warmed skins after. Good old bubble and squeak with a fried egg is filling too.

Corned beef hash is good with some veggies threw into it too, carrots and parsnips, also if the kids are fussy like mine, puree the veg up so that they dont see it, brilliant meal for hiding the veggies!!!! Guess what hugggies is making for dinner tomorrow!!!!! :D
  • I actually find corned beef EXPENSIVE now and actually buy it as a treat! :rotfl::rotfl:

Tuna pasta and sweetcorn or baked potato with beans or the tuna sweetcorn combination , or a nice veg curry ... My sister LIVED on vegetable curry when on a very tight budget and dahl is a good staple cheap food as well! x

Buy your veg from the markets , especially at closing time on a Saturday for bargains & make a good hearty soup & of course look out for all the special offers eg Asda have chicken frankfurters on offer for 50p at the moment , Bartlett rooster potatoes for £1 , mushy peas 13p , frozen mash 50p, herrings in oatmeal for £1 ( they are lovely! ) smartprice bacon pieces 74p is good with a pasta and tomato sauce and goes far

Always use coupons is you can find them combined with special offers as well and when Approved Foods do free delivery stock up on all your staples :D
  • This might involve spending a bit more but is yummy and was one of my favourite meals when I was a kid.

Bellypork slices coated in mustard and brown sugar and grilled. Served with vegetable rice, ie rice with peas and sweetcorn.

I have made it a few times recently.

    xx
