    You mean he, and I haven't had a payin book for any account I've ever held with any bank so it doesn't really matter....

    Oh and believe it or not, there are still call centres in the UK, just luck of the draw as to which call centre facility answers your call!

    I was referring to Scotland where there are a grand total of 3 branches...

    I am aware they are a big global player,

    Apparently, HSBC also process forms etc offshore in Asia too, which would also raise issues for me.

    Most of the Building Societies/ former Building Societies, like Halifax and Nationwide, try not to use the Bank Giro Credit (BGC) system, such as pay-in books as they historically didn't clear them themselves.

    The BGC system is the sister to cheque system and equally archaic!

    Deffo still call centres for HSBC in britain, I live about 3 miles from one!

    With another five new branches scheduled to open there..

    Someone also told me that HSBC customers could use post offices in Scotland but I don't know if thats true..
