Thanks for the response guys, esepecially outpost.
Ive drafted the following email back to asdas rep that i have been emailing, can you advise of any improvements i could make?
    Thanks

    Thank you for your response.
I am still wanting this to be refered to a manager.
The table i purchased should have lasted longer than 3 weeks after raining once, weather it was left outside or not (despite the warnings on a box which i never received).
Due to the short time that it has lasted it is within my rights to have it replaced/refunded under the Sale Of Goods Act 1979
As i am sure you are aware, once of the key principles of the act is the following ( quoted directly from the act)
14 Implied terms about quality or fitness.

(1)Except as provided by this section and section 15 below and subject to any other enactment, there is no implied [F11term] about the quality or fitness for any particular purpose of goods supplied under a contract of sale.
[F12(2)Where the seller sells goods in the course of a business, there is an implied term that the goods supplied under the contract are of satisfactory quality.
(2A)For the purposes of this Act, goods are of satisfactory quality if they meet the standard that a reasonable person would regard as satisfactory, taking account of any description of the goods, the price (if relevant) and all the other relevant circumstances.
(2B)For the purposes of this Act, the quality of goods includes their state and condition and the following (among others) are in appropriate cases aspects of the quality of goods—
(a)fitness for all the purposes for which goods of the kind in question are commonly supplied,
    (b)appearance and finish,
    (c)freedom from minor defects,
    (d)safety, and
    (e)durability.

As you can see from the above, goods are of satisfactory quality if they meet the standard a reasonable person would regard as so. I am sure you will agree that an outdoor table rusting after 3 weeks, after one short spell of rain, is not satisfactory, and this is the opinion of everyone i have spoken to, including friends that are colleagues at your company

Further to this, under EU Law, i am entitled to a refund/replacement within the first 6 months as it is down to yourselves to prove that it wasn't an issue with your company that caused the problem.

I look forward to a reply from a manager within your company.
    Thank you
    Edward

Rust isn't a fault...it's a feature of the material? Iron rusts.

Just thought I'd advise buying a patio table cover...they need them,as do barbeques that are left outside.

Not convinced you'll get anywhere with emailing tbh but the very least you could do is buy a cover!!!

So does steel. Are you implying that any painted iron or steel product that rusts in the first few weeks after purchase is not faulty and that the rust is merely a "feature of the material?" Cars, railings, any number of products that are exposed to the elements?

    Honestly? :)

Agreed, and if/when i get this replaced, ill buy one!
However, i had no inclination that it would rust, as its an outdoor product and i didnt have the box that stated this!

...your comparing apples and oranges with pears and bananas..the table does what it's meant to do...rust or not. It's a table and as it works as a table is fit for purpose.
