Any ideas how to get out of Vodafone contract?

Quickly? I am absolutely sure this cannot damage the port. Yes, you can do this by forcing it in (if the device is not designed correctly) or handling the phone without a due care when the cable is plugged in.
This is arguable. If the charging port is far two weak and breaks after a few weeks, then the device is not feet for purpose. It may be not covered by the warranty (that is apparently unenforceable in UK anyway), but is perfectly covered by the SOG act. This explains why Vodafone are that vague and refuse to give an explanation. They cannot get it repaired under warranty and it is far more easy (and typical) for them to fob the customer off than to force SE to repair/replace the phone (although they have power to do this).
IMO, if it is possible to damage the port without damaging the casing, the device is clearly not fit for purpose. Surface mounting (glueing in fact) is the easiest and the cheapest technology, but it is incorrect to use it indiscriminately for everything without reinforcing such parts as a micro usb connector.
HELP Contract phone - refusal to repair?! - interestingly it was SE too.
I don't disagree with you but unless it's a common fault and a recvall has been done for something like this it could easiily be customer caused.
Proving it one way or another would be hard.0 -
Hi karenwalker75,
I am really sorry to hear that you have experienced some problems. Not only with your handset not working but also with the service you have received. I would like to help.
So that I can investigate this further, can you drop me an email to the address shown on our profile page here with WRT135 FAO Heidi in the subject and a link to this thread.
Many thanks,
