One good thing is that with the giffgaff £10 goodybag, you get unlimited internet, unlimited texts, and 250 minutes.
The internet charges only apply if you do not have a goodybag.0 -

Tesco use o2 network Giffgaff is O2's subsidary for those on budgets.
Tesco actually use O2 owned call centres too and they recently won some sort of award as best UK network. If you're the type of person who likes being able to phone up and speak to customer services go Tesco, if you're happy with self serve options and online support go GiffGaff.0 -
that is a good idea!
Just looked at the giffgaff website, want the Galaxy s2 so would need to pay £500 then £10 pcm and I'm a bit worried by their internet changes 20p a day and additional 20p MB over 20 MB can add up!
Think I might just swallow my pride and go with one of o2 standards tarriffs and just accept that they will not negiotate in future!
If your after a galaxy S2 then o2 can do it for £400 by selecting the 16.50 a month option removing bolt ons straight away (this has been mentioned on hotukdeals).
You can then put a giffgaff sim in straight away it0 -
I was in the same position as you O2 wouldnt offer me anything apart from the online tariffs as an upgrade but I really wanted to stay with them due to the reception an UK based call centres. I ended up going with mobiles.co. uk. Got phone for £89.99, 500 texts, 100 mins, 500mb, 20mms and unlimited wif via cloud and bt open zone. I went through quidco to get £50 cash back to. Carphone warehouse were doing a instore deal where you got the phone for free on a similar tariff for £26 per month (24 months) or try phones4u. Going though a 3rd party dealer you should get a better deal than going directly through O2 but you can still stay with them. Hope that helps a bit! Great phone by the way! Keep checking HDUK for deals on it to.
Wont let me post link but if you go to mobiles co uk go to the phone and click on 24 months they are doing the phone for free for £27 a month0 -
I PAC'd from O2 => Tesco recently and the transition was seamless. Reception is same as O2 as one would expect and much more calls/txts/data for your English pound. 750/5000/1G for 20/month plus a free Samsung Wave.0

I've heard that you when you ring them you get put through to the company that you signed up through (e.g. Carphone Warehouse UK) and you can't get the same level of service as with O2 direct (even through you are using their network). Sorry, does this make sense?!0 -

For a while if you took out an O2 phone with CPW you were with CPW as a network, the same way you would be if you took out a Tesco contract (except dealing with CPW staff rather than O2 staff working for Tesco mobile...), they had their own virtual network, different SIM cards, different billing systems, different website, but that's a thing of the past and most customers are getting migrated over to O2 direct.
If you take out an O2 contract through a 3rd party you'll be dealing with O2 for all your billing, technical stuff, but if you have an issue with the handset you're going to have to return it to the point of sale.0
