Do you use a milkman?

we have a milkman, its nice to know that when i get up my milk is on the doorstep, from what my dh says the milkman arrives at 6am when dh leaves for work.
We use milk and more and i like the fact that if i have forgotten something at the shop or ds need something for his packed lunch i can order it up until 9pm for delivery the next day, i know its more expensive but id rather have milk for my cuppa than having to nip out in my pj's to get some0 -
Haven't used a milkman for years, it got too expensive and I found the milk wasn't that fresh, the 'Pure' milk I buy from Tesco lasts for ages It doesn't seem to ever go off like my pintas from the milkman used to.#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

I've started getting deliveries from the milkman this week as a trial run - an independant supplier not 'milk and more' which is a Dairy Crest creation I believe.
It's really good upto now. Ok, the milk is 64p per pint but it tastes better from the bottle and no plastic containers either. He also delivers a wide range of goods such as eggs, butter, potatoes etc.
I thought you might like to know that supermarkets sell milk as a loss leader too so the price you would pay would be nearer 50p a pint than the current 25p a pint in some places.
I'm reading an interesting book about supermarket practices and the way they do business. It makes interesting reading believe me - they are screwing this country!0 -

I think most people realise we are all being screwed by big businesses but a loss leader is something sold at a low or below cost price to stimulate other more profitable sales so they'd have to sell at below 25p for it to be a loss leader not 50p?#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

I wish I could use the milk man. We don't drink a lot of milk so I wouldn't pay much more per week for my milk and the local dairy sells homogenized milk which I prefer. I also like the environmental advantage of the re-useable milk bottles.
5 years ago I used to use the milk man all the time. But he got later and later. He now arrives after my daughter goes to school! Which means frozen milk in the winter and sour milk the rest of the year. If he can't make it here before 8:30h, then we just can't afford to use him.
The dairy knocks on the door every couple of months, asking if we would be interested. When I ask if they can guarantee delivery by 8am they usually shrug and walk on. Didn't milkmen used to start working at 3am or some similar awful hour?0 -
milkandmore had a free £10 voucher for everyone to use.life is like a loo roll. the nearer the end you get, the faster it goes.0

I used Milk&More for a while, but the milkman started getting the order wrong and then it stopped arriving and was a PITA to get refunded for milk not arriving (was awake and saw the cart just drive by without stopping so I knew it wasn't stolen).0

I use Milk and more about once a week. We don't use any milk in our house as I'm vegan and DH used coffeemate in his coffee.
I use the milkman mainly for bread to stop me going to the supermarket and coming out £20 lighter! They are more expensive than the supermarket but I get a loaf of bread sitting on my doorstep when I get up at 5am ready for me to make fresh sandwiches for work. They often have different things on offer which I take advantage of, 6 packs of walkers crisps are £1 which I think is a good price though I'm sure someone can point me somewhere cheaper...but would they deliver for free no matter if you've only spent a pound.....I think not.
I love my milkyman :rotfl:There is no issue so small that it can't be blown out of proportion0 -
Nooo they are too dear. Plus with us all being at work all day, its sat in the sun on the doorstepThe opposite of what you know...is also true0
