Moneytight in chargeJust got back from Tesco and some friendly staff were in the aisle with pans, knives, dishes etc telling customers that loads of stuff was going through at 20% instead of 20% off. Got a knife block for £13 instead of £13 off, pans for less than £5 each and some soft grip knives for 80p or 90p. I also got 2 Dettol refils and used 2 MOC's. Staff said the offer was on until midnight, then everything would revert to full price.
One of the pans went through twice so went to CS and got DTD back. You still have a bit of time before midnight to hopefully get some bargains.0 -
Coupon and chat mixed threadAs a relative newcomer to this thread I kinda like it the way it is, abit of chat, abit of coupons, abit of any current grabbits we might otherwise miss.
HOWEVER, I can see how time-consuming this must be for IS (or anyone else who took over) as just reading through the thread takes time, let alone then updating this information.
I think splitting it into two threads would not work though and just cause different problems on TWO threads. Personally if I just wanted to know what coupons were available I would look at the first page only (assuming this is still updated regularly).
I think the main issue here is HOW new coupon deals are posted. Sometimes people aren't sure how to do it, forget to highlight in blue, forget to check the first page to see if it is already listed etc. which of course makes it very difficult for IS to pick out.
How about any new coupons being listed at the very start of a post in a quote or code box?
Then, any chat afterwards if you want? That way, anyone who wants to look through the thread can just glance at these boxes if they don't wish to plough through all the chat on that occasion. (Not sure if you can differentiate them from ordinary quotes though:think: )
It may take some time to get into it at first but could make it easier for both the reader and the organiser. I can post how to do this if anyone wants to know.
(scurrying back into the corner to avoid anything fishy)
Sorry for the long post .......................0 -

Coupon and chat mixed threadwell what a lot of post to catch up on.I see myself as an inbetweenie lol,i've been reading/posting for a little while but im not hardcore like IS, Bluewkd,BS ,CW,Gill jeferery to name a few.Time permitting logging on here is one of the first things i do each day as we're all trying to save a £ or 2 ,and greeting friends with a goodmorning is just good manners, the friendliness of the thread appealed to me ,the regulars are always as helpful as they can be ,to help me bag a bargain & get my shopping bill down .for the next few days the thread is going to be moving even quicker due to the poll so roll on result day, hopefully things will settle back down then. one thing i was wondering was could IS & MT do the job together if IS still wants some involvement (like a previous poster i originally thought IS wanted a break completely ) ,perhaps MT could do abit more in school holidays when IS needs more time for her children etc.i could waffle on for hours but i gotta get to bed see you in the morning0

Moneytight in charge:mad:, my son has just got back from the local tesco, the one I wont go in anymore, and he had a totally unprovoked run in with the line supervisor, he was talking to the SA as he was paying, the line supervisor came over and talked over him to the SA,he said excuse me I was just talking, she said I know what you want, my son replied how do you know what I want when you are not listening to me, she then told him to SHUT UP, that store gets worse. but it wont go unreported, tesco need to sack everyone that works there and employ fresh new staff cos the trouts are breeding,:eek::eek::eek:Live for today, for tomorrow is promised to no-one.

I cant believe I just jumped out of bed and went shopping in Tesco when I read about the pand hahaha you lot are so bad for me!!!! i even had my PJ's on under my clothes!!!!
anyway when i got there they were changing the prices but they did manage to get the pan set that was priced at 10 on the web site and 40 in the shop to come up as 55 quid at the tills perhaps i should of bought it and got dtd back which still would of made it 10 quid anyway! should i go back up or wait till tomorrow? hmmmmm. I have ordered one on the internet at £10 so if they charge me 55 quid tomorrow I'll be straight on the phone to CS for my DTD back:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:If it's cheap I Like it. If its Free I love it!0 -

Moneytight in chargeBlue has a possible solution to the thread updating:eek:
Moneytight could do what I did when PC was the thread updater and was on holiday. They could have a blank post after the coupon posts on the first page and then post all the new coupon links on it as they come along on the thread. Then Idlesaver when she has time could then just copy all the coupons from that post and then pm moneytight to say they have been done and moneytight could erase the links and start again. Moneytight has just one post to keep up to date and Idlesaver has one main one to read and can skim through the cr*p (talking bout Blues posts, don't get offended by me calling posts cr*p everyone).
This then gives moneytight an idea what he/she is getting themselves into without taking on all the responsability and then Idlesaver can decide if she wants to carry on and moneytight can decide if it is too much hassle or if he/she can keep up.
BTW Thank you for offering moneytight:T:T:Tmy only reservation for you taking it over as a newbie is that you don't know how much work you are letting yourself in for and this may be a way for you to find out.
I agree we ought to TRY and cut down some chat a bit, mainly put it all on one post rather than a few. So I'll say Goodnight and for tomorrows post Good Morning Everyone. For tea tomorrow Blue is gonna have cheddar mash, chicken stuffed with ham and cheese and peas. Then hot belgian sponge pudding. All washed down with Turners Merlot:D Don't forget only a couple more days to get as much Tesco meal deals as your freezer can manage;)
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3241700Be thankful for what you have because it could all be taken away tomorrow.;)
