    Good morning all,

Wish I'd seen the T's latest kitchen glitch before the very late hours/early hours of this morning, that's what happens when you go to work and can't get online!

Off to do a RTD shop, with vouchers today, so just going to price check before I go.

Hope all have a very good day :)

Dawnie, so pleased the house is so peaceful for you :)

Had a friend around to dinner last night, so talked her through couponing, have emailed her links to various useful sites this morning, so hope she makes a start to save on her bills too :)

    Good morning everyone. :)

I'm sorry Partmouse that things are not so good... hugs from me. :A

I've not been on to post as I'm trying to set up a business and it's taking a lot of my time, sorting through T&C's etc, plus back and forth to my dd (she is autistic), so not much time in the day. Poochy is doing ok; the lump isn't growing by much, so leaving it as it is for now.

I have a wombled till spit for £1.50 off Pampers dry nappies valid until the 19th if anyone wants it. I presume it's ok to use, I'm in the Westcountry. It's a bit weathered,:o but was kind of excited when I spotted it as just saw the £1.50!! Not having much luck with my wombling.:rotfl:

    Good Morning Everybody :hello:

I'm a relative newbie here but just wanted to tell you of my small victory I had over my local tesco and it's coupon policy.

Apologies in advance for the long post, it's easier to post the letters than explain.
    Dear sir/madam,

I wish to complain about the embarrassment I was caused in my local Tesco Extra today.

Due to recent events I am trying to find ways to save money, one of these was is to use coupons and or vouchers to cut the cost of my shopping bill. I came across a website recently called supersavvyme.com, which allows registered users to print money off coupons for various goods.

Each coupon asks which store you would like the coupon for, as a loyal Tesco customer, I chose Tesco. The vouchers are then printed with the Tesco logo and a message reading

"Hand this coupon over to the Tesco checkout operator to receive the

benefits above. Offer is subject to availability. This coupon can only be

used once, has no cash value and is valid in UK & IM only, Not redeemable

through Tesco.com. Copied or damaged coupons will not be accepted. This

coupon is and shall remain the property of Tesco Stores Ltd and is not for

    resale or publication."

I had contacted customer services previously to ask if internet vouchers were accepted and was told that Tesco Stores Ltd do accept these coupons, but it was up to the individual stores discretion as to whether that store would accept them.

On 12/05 /2011 I went to Tesco Extra with a number of these coupons, chose my products went to the till asked if the vouchers were accepted, which I was told they were, the assistant scanned my shopping, then my coupons. I paid the remaining amount and was on my merry way.

Today I visited the same Tesco's Store armed with my coupons, including newspaper and magazine coupons, and a list of shopping. As I had used these type of coupons 3 days prior, I did not feel the need to ask if they would be accepted. After my shopping had been scanned I handed over my coupon to the assistant to be told she couldn't accept the internet vouchers. I explained that I had used the same type 3 days prior at which point the supervisor approached. I was told that head office had said they could not be accepted, I said I had contacted Customer Services and been told otherwise. At this point the supervisor then changed her story to the Cash Office had told her that they could not be accepted, as they were open to abuse.

I knew I did not have enough money to pay for the items without the coupons, so I had to ask for the items to be returned. By this point there was a queue staring to form behind me, I felt very embarrassed by the whole situation and apologised to the customers behind me for holding up the
    queue.

I paid for the items for which my newspaper coupons were acceptable and left, feeling like I had tried to commit an offense of some kind.

As I still needed the items I had the coupons for I went to a smaller Tesco Metro, where the vouchers were accepted with no problem whatsoever. But this being a Metro store they do not stock the same number of items as the Extra store. I am now left with unusable coupons, as metro do not stock the items and I do not wish to endure a similar treatment at the Extra store.

I would like to point out that, I understand that a small number of people may try to abuse the system, but many law abiding people like myself, just wish to save money.

What is the difference between an internet coupon and a newspaper or magazine coupon? Each internet coupon is printed with the registered person's name, a unique barcode that can be tracked, and each coupon can be validated by using the safe coupon website as printed on the coupon and entering this unique barcode. Magazine and newspaper coupons are much easier to come by and any number of these magazines or newspapers can be bought at a time. In the technological age that we live in, I would have thought that internet vouchers would be as acceptable as any other. In fact your own Price check vouchers are only open to people with an internet connection, yet these are accepted without question.

I have been left disappointed by the lack of consistency on this matter by Tesco staff, embarrassed by the situation at the till, and overall I have not managed to save the money I was hoping to, as I had the extra cost of travel to the metro store.

After many years of loyalty, I am reconsidering Tesco my supermarket of choice, and as there is an Adsa store close by, which has no problem accepting coupons, aswell as a Morrisons and other small supermarkets I will not be without choice.

I have enclosed copies of my receipt from 12/05/2011 (img001.jpg) as well as copies of the coupons in question (img002.jpg).

    Regards,
    Dear Mrs,

Thank you for your patience whilst I looked into your complaint regarding the incident at your local store whereby your internet coupons were not accepted. I can understand how embarrassing this must have been for you as this happened in front of other customers.

I'd like to assure you that we'll happily accept your coupons if you've bought the product, this includes internet and branded coupons. Unfortunately if you haven't bought the product we can't accept the coupon. I'm very sorry that on this occasion this didn't happen and left you in a very difficult position.

I've spoken with Julie Rigg, Duty Manager at our Barrow store and explained the nature of your complaint. Julie assures me that she will raise this with the Checkout Manager and ensure that all staff are made aware that the coupons should be accepted, she also asked me to send her apologies for what happened.

In addition to this and by way of an apology, I've sent you a £5.00 Tesco Moneycard to your address on your grocery home shopping account. This should arrive within 10-14 days via Royal Mail.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to bring this matter to our attention. I do hope that despite this unfortunate experience, we can still look forward to your valued custom in the future.

If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact me at customer.service@tesco.co.uk quoting .

    Kind Regards

    Tesco Customer Service
    Dear Julie,

Thank you for your reply and the £5 moneycard, which was very gratefully received.

Unfortunately, I visited the Barrow store yesterday with my coupons from newspapers and the internet, and was once again told by the sales assistant, that the internet coupons could not be accepted. I had a print out of your email which I handed to her and explained that I had contacted Customer Services, who in turn had contacted the Duty Manager, Julie Rigg, and had been told I could use internet coupons.

The assistant called for the supervisor, which happened to be the same supervisor as in the previous incident. I noted her name was Gill. Gill also said they could not be used, I again explained and showed her my email. At this point I was taken to the customer services desk, still being told I could not use the coupons and that Julie Rigg was a Duty Manager and not a Checkout Manager, so did not know that they could not be used. Gill then phoned the Duty Manager (not Julie) to come and speak to me.

Again I explained and showed my letter, I was told that ‘internet coupons’ were for use on the internet. I showed the coupons and explained that they were manufacturers coupons printed off the internet. I was then told that any coupons must be for the exact item, I showed that all the coupons I had were for the exact items in my trolley. After much discussion I was told I could use the coupons for this transaction as I had the letter with me, but ‘we need to get some clarification on this’ Gil then said they had had a meeting this week and been told they could not accept them. My coupons were eventually accepted.

I was then asked for my name and phone number and asked if they could have a copy of the letter, which I allowed. I was told I would receive a phone call from Sue, who I presume is the store manager.

Once again, I feel like a criminal for trying to save money. I had an email from yourself stating these coupons would be accepted and an apology for not accepting them in the first place, and even then, I had to fight to use them.

I would like to know who has the final say on whether these coupons can be accepted? As each person at the Barrow Extra store seems to have their own policy.

I am a carer for my grandma, and as such I only receive £55 a week to live on, my partner is self employed and earns very little. I thought using coupons would be a great way of saving money, instead it has caused nothing but embarrassment and unnecessary stress.

I hope to get some clarity on this matter soon.

Thank you very much for your time so far,

    Regards,
    Dear ,

Thank you for your patience whilst I liaised with the Store Manager David McMunn regarding your complaint. I'm sorry that I was unable to speak to you in person.

I'd like to assure you that David was disappointed to hear of your experience when you have tried to use the internet coupons in his store. He advised me that he has been working with his Customer Service Manager Kelly Swainson to ensure that his team are aware that these vouchers can be accepted.

David advised that should you experience any further problems with using these coupons to ask for him or Kelly Swainson personally and they will resolve this matter in store for you.

Once again, please accept my apologies and I hope that this will reassure you that we will do all that we can to ensure this doesn't happen again.

Thank you for bringing this matter to my attention and I hope despite these unfortunate experiences you'll continue to shop with us, giving us the chance to provide the excellent service you've come to expect and so rightly deserve to receive.

If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact me at online@tesco.co.uk quoting

    Kind Regards

They actually sent 2 £5 moneycards (mistakenly, I think) although I never did get the phone call they said I would get.

When I went in yesterday they took my coupons no questions asked. I said to the SA your the first person here to take them without dragging me to CS and calling the manager. She said " As of a few day ago, it comes up on the till when we sign in that we are now to accept them" :T:j:T:j

Again sorry for the long post but I felt proud for standing my ground and getting a result and wanted to share as it may help others.
