Sunday papers - I'd forgotten they were given up long ago.
To be honest it was only partly the cost - I was fed up finding they only contained the news from the Monday to Friday papers rehashed again.
Baths are also a bit of a luxury - takes too much time so I just have a shower instead. In fact I had to dust the bath recently it had been so long since it was used!NO FARMS = NO FOOD0

They were called Bahlsen milk choco leibniz. £1.50 a packet but buy one get one free so two packs for that. They are as you describe thick chocolate on top of what looks like rich tea type biscuit.
thats the ones, but plain chocolate, I'm the only one in the house that likes plain chocolate so it means I get the whole box to myself. I'm not sharing. I'm nice, but not that nice!!:rotfl: l love this site!! :rotfl:0

When we moved from a non-metered house without a shower into our current one with, I decided that baths were to be a thing of the past. It's worked. We haven't ever used the bath and our water bill is well below average for me plus two older teenagers but there are times when I would love a good long soak with bubbles. Problem is that I know if I begin this, everyone will want baths and they will become more and more frequent and the bill will rise.

Be careful what you wish for - I only have a bath, no shower and it's worse than useless. I have to work act motivating myself to have a bath in the morning - baths are for bedtime, not to refresh yourself in the morning
My hair doesn't rinse properly in the bath either
Reading this thread, I can see how lucky I am. I haven't given anything up, and don't need to Partly because I guess I've always been a bit moneysaving - I don't drink, smoke, go out clubbing (I guess it helps that I have no friends Partly because I guess I've always been a bit moneysaving - I don't drink, smoke, go out clubbing (I guess it helps that I have no friends ) or whatever - people would probably hate my life when I read that back :rotfl: but we're happy, warm and well fed ) or whatever - people would probably hate my life when I read that back :rotfl: but we're happy, warm and well fed 0 0

Had our first strawberries from the garden today and even tho some creepy crawlie has had a nibble here and there they are luverly and grown totally organically - I had just enough to make a strawberry sponge with them so we all had fair shares.
I went to get some on the market on Saturday and they have gone up from £1 a punnet to £2 ...... must be Wimbledon on the horizon .
Happy Birthday for tomorrow Spike Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

I don`t knit any more, I like good quality wool and it is now a ridiculous price so I don`t even make childrens items. A cardi for a 3 year old can cost £12-£15 so no-way
My mum knits cardis for me to sell on ebay and she only likes to use Robin or Patons wool as she feels they are good quality (double knit). I bought her a load of Robin from this website http://shop.shadowsdiscountwools.co.uk/epages/es135632.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/es135632/Categories/Robin/Robin_DK last week, it's £1.05 a ball with £2.50 postage to pay no matter how much you buy so it pays to buy in bulk (I bought 16 balls to try as it was my first order, but will probably buy 40+ next time!), and they accept paypal. They arrived really quickly and knit a beautiful soft, hardwearing cardi :T I also buy buttons in bulk for her from Ebay. HTH
My main economy these days is shampoo. I have waist length hair that I used to spend an absolute fortune on between salon shampoos, conditioners and styling serums and sprays. Now I use Aldi 3 in 1 shampoo, conditioner and bodywash at 89p a bottle with a drop of Moroccanoil before I blowdry (present from MIL, tiny bottle will last me over a year!!!) and my hair has never felt or smelt lovelier. I also don't buy cake bars, cereal bars etc for packed lunches any more, cheap biscuits & cookies go into food bags instead or I'll bake them something yummy (twinks are a real fave!). I only ever buy fruit and veg from Aldi these days and also do my main shop there, nipping to Tesco for the very few bits that I can't get there. When I get home from doing the big shop I go onto mysupermarket and put in what I've bought from my receipt, it's so motivating to see what you've saved - this week £52 at Aldi would have cost £80 at Asda, £83 at Tesco and scary money at Sainsbury :rotfl: We've came off cans of diet cola too - something 3 months ago I thought would be impossible!!!Feeding 2 adults and 5 piglets aged 7 months, 7, 8, 10 & 13. Thank heaven for Aldi!:rotfl:

Freyasmum, you've got loads of friends on here!
If you're rinsing your hair in the bath make sure there's no soap/bubble bath etc in the bath water otherwise your hair will go quite strange. i speak from experience on this one as having lived in a house (not now) for 7 years that had a supply from the local river which used to dry up to a trickle in the summer meaning water was rationed (I also learned the hard way to put water in a glass first before adding cordial after coming nose to nose with a pond shrimp in my glass.... I screamed very loudly). I used to fill a jug separately with water to rinse my hair that way i knew there was no bubble bath etc in it.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0
