There are several schemes at the jobcentre to get people back to work. One of them is the advisers discretion fund - from memory I think this is usually given to buy work clothing so I can't see why it couldn't be used for this purpose. Depending on how long you've been claiming there is also a Job Grant of £100The Cabbage

What was your ban for? It is really quite relevant. If it was for driving offences you are likely to find any insurance probitatively expensive, and motorcycle insurance is likely to be significantly more than £200.0 -

I really would check the motorcycle quote, my fully comprehensive insurance on a 750, with full NCB and no convictions and having had a license for 10 years was £99 (I sold my bike 3 years ago so it may have changed slightly).0 -

No you didn't blame anybody Gibbo (don't you hate it when people just have a go and not answer the question you asked ?! Apples2 had a go at me in one of my posts)
You thought it was next year which is why you don't have the money saved. Fair enough.
There are loan companies out there who would lend to you (you can find them on comparison sites) and some are specifically designed for unemployed people but these loans come with a terrible price, insane interest rates.
I can understand your frustration though, you say you could get back into work straight away if you had a car ? Is that for sure ? If it is then you could give the job centre a ring and negotiate ??? Set up an appointment and maybe get a letter from your place of work confirming that you have a job waiting for you but you need £200 to get your car sorted so you can accept that job. Ask them if you can loan this money from job centre somehow (far better than a loan) then you would come straight off the benefits and go back into work. If they can't give you the money somehow through one of their schemes then ask them to point you to someone who could help. How long have you been on benefits ? What benefits are you on ?
Although a loan would be a bad idea in your current situation, sometimes we don't have any other option. Since you say your benefits are gone on rent and food etc have you thought about the loan repayment plan ?
How long would it take you to save £200 ? I mean you thought you would be banned for another year anyways ... Sell stuff on ebay ? Check the up your income forum for things you could do that wouldn't affect the benefits ? There's so many things you can do, surveys etc bring shopping bills right down with vouchers which means you could put money into savings towards the medical test ???
Good luck with everything and let us know how its all going !0
