Java problem on OP's machine maybe?

That sounds interesting, how would I go about determining if it is the issue?

In the pink box after doing the test I get:

Java Version: 1.6.0_24 from Sun Microsystems Inc.

I think that means java is fine.

Not as technical as everyone else here but have had similar issue and wondered if it may be your wireless connection.

I am having a very similar issue - new BT installation yesterday.

Home PC with a belkin N dongle is sitting on same desk as my work laptop with built in wireless and my wifes laptop also with built in wireless floats around the house.

Router is 7 metres away (with one wall between us - 1960s house).

My PC keeps losing signal, losing internet, really bad.
Work laptop only shows 3 bars but slightly better.
Wifes laptop only shows 4 bars when a foot from the router and 4 bars when in my room.

BT have said that if the router knocks out a signal then it must be working and have been beyond useless.

I have ordered some plug adapters to send signal through the plug sockets. If they dont result in a significant improvement will be terminating my BT contract.

Have you tried changing the wireless channel? Rather premature to order Homeplugs before you've done the basic tests. Does everything work OK when using ethernet?
Your wireless connectivity is not BT's problem, it is yours. If they are delivering a signal to your NTE5, that is all they have to do.
Your PC will alway be worse, because it's got a big metal box getting in the way of the signal-try using a USB extender (assuming you are using a USB wireless adapter) to get the adapter up higher and away from the PC.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
