    hi FW

Think we are reporting in "officially" at the end of every month but is always good to catch up between times. I know like you it helps keep me motivated.

After last month's unavoidable expenditure I am doing pretty well so far this month - have paid off £805 - and am hoping to be able to clear at least another £70 by payday on the 26th. Feel like am getting back on track.

Matched betting is proving very useful for me in making some extra money - have made over £360 since I started 3 weeks ago + over £80 tracked in quidco waiting payment.

    Good luck with eBay/Amazon
  • Hello everyone. Just a quick heads up about the half price listings day on eBay this Tuesday. I have my 200 items pre-listed and ready to go live and I'm hoping to make £200 out of them. I stocked up on a few PG tips monkeys at Asda earlier on today, as well, I have a hunch I can make a few quid on those. Plus it means I can send my friend in Paris a box of PG tips for her birthday next month, too.

Wow, Mizmir, I've just noticed your matching betting profits! The maths still hurts my brain a bit, I wish I could work it out, but I've been on the thread and it might as well be in ancient Egyptian for all I can understand of it. I am sticking with the AQAing and the eBaying for the time being. Oh, and I'm doing an extra project at work which is being paid separately, and could pay for my trip to Cyprus if I'm lucky.

    Catch you all later

Good luck with your ebaying nevadagirl. I just stick to the basics with matched betting - still lots of money to be had. Is making a big difference to my totals - should be able to clear £875 off my debts this month (up to £805 but am hoping that will be able to knock another £70 before pay day!).

That's my target for this challenge! With that (and some extras I know I am getting next year) my DFD has come forward dramatically! :j :j :j
  • Well done! That's brilliant news. I can't decide what's more satisfying, adding up a monthly total to be paid off, or seeing that date come forward. Much easier to celebrate both :j

I've fallen off the moneysaving wagon a bit in the last couple of days. Ended up being taken away for a surprise Valentine's weekend and had to buy George at Asda/H&M clothes to wear and get a haircut. My current wardrobe looks like a jumble sale waiting to happen, and my hair was doing its best Wurzel Gummidge impression, so it wasn't before time.

So I'm even more determined to sell, sell, sell this week. And I did take a skirt back to Primark earlier today that I didn't wear last night  I managed to take three outfits for one overnight stay (including what I was wearing, though).

    Have a great moneysaving week

No chance of that happening here!!!

I've had a very disappointing month, it's so depressing.

I've been having a kerfuffle with Premium Credit Ltd who do my GAP insurance for my car. Its only £20 a month but I'd forgotten to corporate it in my budget, so it bounced and put me over drawn. Cue a £34 bounced DD charge and a £25 overdraft charge from my bank and a £20 default charge from Premium Credit. Then, 5 days later they request the £20 direct debit again (it bounced, another £34 charge) and the £20 default charge as a separated direct debit (another £34 charge). So thats £147 in charges and the DD still isn't paid :o  . So as you can imagine, I'm not a happy bunny. I asked A&L for the charges back, but they said no. I don't really want to persue them for them as they have been brilliant so far (they have reimbursed charges in the past) and I've run out of banks to swap to! :p

So I think my debt has come down by only around £200 this month. Depressing indeed. I will also be struggling next month as I'm going into the month with a £147 overdrawn balance, and an extra £20 to cough up for this months DD, and I need to accommodate that £20 a month into the budget too.

I've put my final bits of worthless tat on ebay, so fingers crossed that brings in a few quid.

Next week I'll be helping a friend move house, and hes not hard up and he knows I am, so he's said he will pay me.

I'll weigh in tonight when I get home as I already know the balance for this month.

    Well done everyone else... :T

Sorry to hear about the problems Tom - it will get better I am sure. Well done Funnyflip - that is an amazing amount!

I'm on target this month I think due to matched betting but will wait till pay day (a week) before I update my sig.
  • Well, my total debt stands at £29164, so less my car its now £19288.57. Thats really depressing :( Down by only £149 despite having a month of being skint and ploughing every spare penny into the debt.

I'm hoping my ebay sales will do me proud and help me keep my head above the water next month, and from then on I'll be cruising as things will be paid off, and I'll be back to my planned budget.

So the aims for this month are simply to:

    Pay all bills on time
Not borrow a penny more from parents, not use cards at all etc.
Bring the debt down to about £18,800.

    Fingers crossed!!!
  • Hi Tom
Sorry to hear about the bank charges, its easy to miss the odd thing off the budget - I know I've done it often enough.

Well done Nevada Girl 200 items listed on Ebay - I hope they all sell well. I messed up my first attempt at selling by not noticing that one item was bought by someone in EIRE so my postage costs were well over my anticipated amounts. Still I'll know for next time. Also only about half the items sold and not the ones that I thought would sell easily. I need to research it more closely.
Similarly I must look at the matched betting. I think I'm avoiding it incase I get addicted to the betting buzz. I know you cover yourself but I know what I'm like as well.
I have now managed for over a month without a credit card. It means that my overdraft is dangerously high but it has cut down on those impulse buys. I just need to find £3k like funnyflip but I don't think it very likely. I did try to cash in my pension but apparently that's not allowed.

I'll update my signature at the end of the month incase my ebay items sell this time.
