EBay sales and a refund have got me to £120 this month - not sure I'll make it to £300 with it being Christmas but it's a start. Will also be trying to cut costs - spending diary is really scary but lots of potential for cutbacks!
  • Hello challengers!

I'm in pretty much the same boat, too. If I didn't have that £200 to claim back I'd be struggling this month.

My strategy for January is to eat out of my cupboards and freezer as much as I can. I'm going to stock up on UHT cartons of milk and buy my cat food in bulk at the start of the month so I'm not tempted to go in the supermarket AT ALL. I get fresh fruit and veg from a local farmer every two weeks, so I shouldn't get scurvy or anything

Everyone else will be skint after Christmas so hopefully there won't be too much pressure to go out socialising. The weather is far too miserable anyway. I'm in a book group and our next meeting isn't until February so I'm about £20 better off this month and in January than I would usually be. Plus I recommended our next book so I already have a copy, and rereading it will keep me out of mischief, I hope...

  • Hey everyone

This seems like one heck of a challenge and I really need a kick up the bum (there is nothing like a bit of compertion to do that).

My debts are larger than 21000 but to get rid of a chunk would be amazing so im in if thats ok.

    Current debts

    Barclays loan 23000
    MBNA card 220
    Barclaycard 4500
    Egg card 3800
    Comet 140
    Sainsburys card 2100

Will need an extra 250 per month to meet the 21000 target so will sell every bit of junk I have got.

  • Hi All
Your challenge caught my eye as I thought that was about the level of my debt. Unfortunately on totalling it all up I've made it about £3k higher. However I'd love to join in as I need the challenge to get me committed to reducing it. If I leave out my M&S and Lloyds cc which are at the lowest rates I make my challenge £21419.28. Hope I can join in.

Don't worry - my total debt is £27.5K  but if I can meet the challenge it will bring my DFD date forward by more than a year! More than worth a go.

    £99.18
    £194.35
