Thanks for the welcome back ladies - was a nice thing to come home to,ive had a horribel day at work, nothing bad just ridiculously busy on reception (where I dont usually cover for longer than a few hours at a time cos I find it really stressful and cant do it - Ive been stuck there for 3 days now, Im almost glad im on call tomorrow so at least im late in so wont have to be there!!!) and all with stupid questions, stupid reps, ignorant clients ( I had 4 in a row who all had a go at me becuase the law says that before any horses can be seen by physio or chiropractors (or any kind of therapy person like that) they have to have been seen by or at very least have a vets permission - obviously I am single handedly responsible for this law,Im a money grabbing cow who wants to make them all have their horses put down because they cant afford to have us out as well as the physio (which if they got us out, most of them wouldnt blinking need AND costs more than getting us to see why they think they ahve a problem!!!) a whole host of people who have decided to do a hard sell on us becuse when we get our new building done,we are going to be needing to buy extras of everything (though god knows where they got wind of the building work going on!!) the one person who made my day nice on the phone was a lady I had to ring at about 4 who was booking in the ID and stuff for her month old foal - and she was telling me its called Hiccup... how cute is that??!!!

Red is amazing at the moment thankyou - shes very very well and blooming :) the two year old will be racing soon, shes had a couple of entries but for one reason or another they havent run her yet - but soon hopefully I will be reporting another succesful family member - just wish she was mine !!
Gratuatous photo of Red cos you asked how she was (sorry everyone else - but I do love my "pony" (and the dogs!)

Welll....... I went down town earlier with thoughts of popping in to S'drug.. (for a quick browse, you understand, plus panty liners) and it's CLOSED DOWN!!!!

I'd actually expected this a while ago, our town centre has been wrecked by a Tesco Extra store 100 yards outside it.

We also still have Boots, Savers and Wilko, plus Boyes and Poundstretcher who all sell similar lines.
Lord knows what will replace it, if anything. We don't have a pound shop, Home Bargains or BM Bargains though. However our Woolworths is still empty and it's by no means the only shop that is.

Sad isn't it, I dont think you can beat a mooch around the high street, spotting something you like and taking it home with you there and then, much nicer than online shopping which I don't do much of. We should try and support our high street, people need those jobs, and for some people getting out like that is a lifeline, people will moan when it isn't there. Having said that the two small towns nearest to me are heaving all week long with shoppers.

    Hi everyone

Willow - congratulations on your results!

Kaz - poor DD! I was somewhat accident prone as a child but got much worse when puberty struck. Just before a period I would be clumsy, fallling over my own feet, dropping things but several times a day and then it would get better for a while until the next cycle...
...it has got better with age though!

Right then ladies, I'm after a bit of advice! Am still trying to combat my somewhat oily skin, with no success so far. For the last week and a half I've been using Philosophy's Purity cleanser as a one stop shop - so cleaning my face with this, which also removes all my makeup, then putting just a dab of moisturiser on.

Am unsure as to the cleanser - it feels lovely, but isn't doing much to stop the oil, and also I'm starting to get slightly sore dry patches right in the corners of my eyes by my nose, which can't be a great sign!! I've also had a few more spots than normal, some on my forehead but mainly around my jawline - not sure if it'll be drawing stuff out of my skin and I should stick with it for longer, or if the Purity cleanser itself is actually causing spots. I've never had sensitive skin or allergies...

Should I keep using the Purity cleanser and give it more time to settle my skin? My pores are definitely smaller/less noticable!

Or should I move on to something else? I have my new Elemis set to crack into so can always give that a go!

Alternatively, if anyone out there has had similar annoying skin that just won't behave, any recommendations would be soooo gratefully received!!!!!

PS - I did try the BS seaweed moisturiser on the recommendation of this forum - it didn't make a blind bit of difference... unless I didn't give it long enough - how long should you give toiletries before you give up if you don't see a difference?

Sorry for the long post!!!!!!!! :D

I have used the Philosophy purity cleanser and it didn't suit me although I have a dry skin it made my skin really sensitive with breakouts and I never bought it again. I would open your elemis and give that a try....

Rosemary - sorry to hear your DS didn't get the job- has he anything else lined up?

Well, I went to the travel agent today and she came up with the same flight as me but at nearly £300 more than I had found online. She said she can't price match flight only bookings only holidays:( so I took the plunge and booked it online this afternoon myself for £647.48:T
I just need travel insurance, and look at airport parking and hotel because I think my DH might be coming around to the idea of driving to the airport:T
So relieved the flight is booked...now can't wait to see my family in Lisbon:j

Oh.. no IN's and no UU's:D

Nothing to report here - I'm hoping for one more UU in the next few days as that little pot I mixed the end of two lip balms in is approaching empty. I want one final UU for June! :p

Oh bev, well done! Check your bank accounts as some of them have free travel insurance included in your terms and conditions. It would be a shame to buy insurance when you already have it!
If you are definately going for a hotel, you can often get 2 weeks free parking at the hotel when you book a nights stay there. It may be worth a try? If not, try to research the area around the airport and see if you can find somewhere safe to leave your car while you're gone and then get a taxi to the airport. May be much cheaper than paying airport parking fees. Alternatively, how about stumping up for car hire for one day from one of those car hire places where you can collect the car from your local area and drop it off at the airport. I think hertz do that but you will probably be able to find many others which do it for cheaper. That saves the bother of finding any parking doesn't it? Unless of course it is prohibitively expensive. You ought to be able to do the same on the way home too.
Still got sticky hair as not had bath yet.
I know DD is going to hit puberty very soon. She's 10 in November. Not looking forward to it tbh. I've had the chat with her and got her a little tin and some ST's so that she can just grab them when she needs them. I might just start to put them in her bag now so she has them if it happens when she's at school. I don't remember but I'm sure I needed a bra before I started periods. Is that the norm? I want to be prepared for her because it will be a heck of a shock for her if I'm not. She's not sprouting any extra hair or anything yet but I don't think it'll be too long as she's tall and heavy. No doubt she'll have a massive growth spurt just after I've bought her new school uniforms .

Funny, Mcculoch, they were discussing the decline of the high street on Jeremy Vine today. TBH, I don't go into town any more because the high street is the same as any high street anywhere in the country. It's depressing. I do love to have a wander down all of the back streets though at the little independant shops. I think that if I'm going to buy something from a big national then I'll buy it online with cashback and free delivery and a mighty discount thanks very much. At least I don't have to go trawling my way up and down the high street with arm fulls of carrier bags. So weighty

I heard that as well, (also the debate on able bodied people thinking it's ok to use accessible toilets, and thereby potentially depriving a disabled person of the chance to use the amenity, don't get me started...)
Our town centre has lost nearly all its originality. In recent years we've lost independent bakers, craft shop, 'Aladdin's Cave' type shop, art shop, toy shop, chemists, jewellers, weigh and save, florists...
We still have a butcher's, opticians, card and gift shop, second florists and 2 pet shops that are independent.
Everything else is a major-ish chain - and we've lost a few of those over the years - Winners, Iceland, Woolworths, Your More store, Greenwood's, Three Cooks, Mister Minit, Somerfield... and now Superdrug.

Trudi, hope the week gets better, I am completely biased towards horses called Hiccup(s) of course, as it's Andrew Tinkler's Hiccups with me in my FB pic.. :)

I didn't hear the bit about using disabled loos. I'm not sure why as I heard the intro. I must have been doing something noisy.
UU's to report! TBS satsuma shower gel. WIBA? Depends on price. It was nice enough but not at full price :). Also UU L'Occitane Lavender body lotion. WIBA? No. DD got this for Christmas from my sister but wasn't keen on the difficulty of getting it out of the bottle. We used it this weekend and it smells lovely. It was nicely moisturising. It is also frighteningly, prohibitively expensive. About £7.00 for 75ml.
I would like to start making my own toiletries I think. It would be lovely if I was able to produce some nice products. I will also be able to choose what goes into them and control the costs of the stuff I make.
That's the idea anyway! Let's see how well I actually get on with that idea as DH happily embraced the homemade laundry gloop but is not happy about homemade bread. I had to be really firm with him today, he asked 3 times on the phone if we I'd bought bread and I said "No, I made 4 loaves yesterday". In the end I had to say "Don't buy bread, there's lots here, just milk thanks". Then he went to Asda this evening. £48 spent there. So our spends for today are massive :(.

Kaz, just don't worry if your daughter doesn't start till much later. I was a large girl so my mum had the chat with me when i was 10, and provided her old equipment (she'd not needed it for over 10 years) and it was a towel with a band you wear around your waist etc. How old fashioned! thankfully i explained about the ones that stuck on. Oh back to what i was going to say, i was a large girl and i didn't start until i was 14.
