12 reasons to not buy a house

you must have a good pension if you will be able to continue paying rent indefinitely and eat when you are retired0

There are plenty of reasons why a culture of renting would be far better than a culture of buying, and why renting is better for an individual than buying, however until a forward thinking government brings in some policies to keep rents affordable, gives tenants the rights to treat a place as their own, and ensure a decent level of security of tenure, the way things are is here to stay.0

21) Keep the thrill of never knowing where you'll be living in 6 months.
22) You get to let the nice lady from the lettings agency poke around your house every few months for an "inspection".
24) Maintain a permanently lower credit score, which helps avoid the temptation of running up other debt. It's just too expensive.
25) You get to keep in touch with the nice man at the moving company, after all, you see him twice a year.
I rent and can paint whatever colours I like.
I can stay here unless I don't pay the rent.
I don't get anyone poking around for an inspection.
I don't care for my credit score as I don't need or want any debt.
I don't see anyone from a moving company, unless I choose to move.
I gather you're talking about private lettings but the above didn't apply to me when I rented privately for 12 years and I'm in a HA house now.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

10, You dont have to worry about subsidence
I worry about subsidence pretty much all day every day, and that includes the 23 years of my life before I bought a house. Subsidence is everyone's business.
On an unrelated note, is it just me or does this place get that little bit more crazy on a daily basis? It can't be long before the sponsored adverts on the right hand side of this forum are all for mental health charities and phonelines.0 -

Very true. I suppose if you're passionate about these types of things though then it all matters to you. There's probably a clothing discussion forum somewhere on the interwebs where some nutter is making a list of 12 reasons why t-shirts are rubbish, with a handful of t-shirt fans arguing against their reasonings.0 -
