Thanks QOTD, I may try that over the weekend when it's just me!!

I went to Lidl last night, as my favourite wine was on special (6 bottles for the price of 4, and it's reasonably cheap even at full price), so I got 12 to last me a couple of months. And 6 red for OH, and fruit and veg for the week, and some extra other bits that we use a lot from there that were also on special (cheddar, Kinder things for DD, avocados - even managed to get some nice hard ones for next week too). And I got smoked salmon and bread when I was in small SM yesterday morning as the salmon was cheap and the bread was nice for dinner tonight (rosemary oil loaf).

I am due to have roast chicken today, took it out of the freezer yesterday and put it in the fridge overnight and it still feels rock hard  I just hope being out till early afternoon will be ok...was thinking maybe about putting it in cold water to speed things up would that help??

Yep, that's how I defrost things. Apparently cold water is better than hot, or at least it's safer.

Spent £18.29 in Sainzers yesterday ( on what I really can't fathom, but this did include spread & cheese that were on offer and GF plain flour that's £1.85 a pop!!! ) and OH spent £3.90 in A$da mainly 8 pts milk, orange juice and paracetemol. So hoping for a NSD today and tomorrow as going out to a Blues festival on saterday and want to spend my money on having a lovely time there instead :)

Today am cooking Ham, chicken and spinach pancake bake that we were supposed to have yesterday but got to be quick as DD has got prize giving awards at school tonight. Tomorrow dinner will probaly be H/M houmous and veggie sticks then carrot and coriander soup but it depends what everyones doing. My meal plan has got all muddled but we're having the planned things just on completely different days.

Hope everyone has a good day :)

    Pay day yesterday so I am declaring at £76.28 / £100 .

I have come in under budget, partly due to being so out of it with various toothache, holidays & exhaustion that I haven't made it to the shops since the middle of the month! I've been too tired to even think about shopping this week so it's a good job I brought home enough leftovers from guide camp to keep us going for a few days - mainly bread but that's ok because I am the toast monster :p I can't believe the freezer is still almost full as well, how did that happen??

Now just need to work out next month's plan. I have visitors tonight, so hopefully on Friday I'll have a rummage through the freezer & do a bit of meal planning, write a shopping list & then set my July budget.

Declaring at €139.29 for June....seems wonderful but we were away for 2 weeks so maybe not so great....do have lots in fridge/freezer and cupboards so reckon that with a little care July might be ok.

Put me down for €185 again for July please Mrs MC and thanks again to you and all who make this thread possible for lazy bu**ers like me!

    Hi there,

Just to let everyone know that the July 2011 Grocery Challenge is now up and running. Thanks as always to MRSMCAWBER and rosieben for all their input into the thread. Sadly MRSMCAWBER can't be with us this month due to family comittments and I'm sure you will all join me in wishing her well.

Good luck to everyone taking part this month. We are feeding two extra adults for most of July so I think my budget is going to be blown sky high! :(
