Hi yes they did have ppi on them. They confirmed this with me over the phone when I got the account numbers for the loans from them. The letter said there had been no ppi premiums paid in the last 6 years. The last egg loan was paid off 5/11/2004

I am on another forum and have been advised to submit a Sar to get details of these loans from egg

So that is my next step. I believe they do still hold all my payment details as I only stopped dealing with them in December, granted that was for a credit card but they very quickly gave me my loan details when I rang.

    Hi There,

yes i would send off for a SAR as you have had ppi attached to the loans so you have made payments for these etc just because you havent paid any ppi premiums in the last six years doesnt mean you were not mis-sold ppi on them. As the six year cut off that is mentioned is from when you became aware of being mis sold im pretty sure.

I would also give the FOS a call as a few others had been told that yes they had been mis sold but due to no payments being made in the last 6yrs nothing was due to be refunded etc and im sure they got thier complaints upheld and refunded.

Im sure others will have better info than me................ but dont give up straight away!

Don't give up at the first hurdle. Its just what they want you to do. Get your SAR. I got told from my own bank when I called them that no PPI was on my loans and she double checked. I had the agreements in front of me and each one had PPI attached. I then told her so and she did not know what to say. They often will lie (most of the time) their way out of paying you back. Just a pity its allowed cause if the consumer did the same they would be penalised for it.

I will get the Sar sent off this week :)

Talking of banks lying, I phoned barclays and am almost certain I had ppi/card protection on my cc but they said I didn't. Think I might send off a Sar there too

They were very quick with mine. About three weeks and had the letter saying they have recd the complaints and then the rejection.

Had nothing back on the cc yet mind, only the acknowledgement.

Hope yours go ok, I take it yours are under 6 years old?

I will keep you updated :)

one was 1999 so expecting the same answer as yours, and one 2002 which finished in 2007 so maybe a different answer lol fingers crossed although ive sent the complaints off without getting my hopes up!

i had my own insurance to cover, death, sickness and unemployment aswell as being covered via work for sickness, death in service and being made redundant and egg never give you a cost breakdown just that will be x each month for x amount borrowed and a major hard sale to take the ppi no ppi no loan and boy did i want that new car! i'll have it pmsl

Mine were 2001,2002 and 2003. I also had/have cover through work 6 months full pay and 6 months half pay, plus redundancy. I also had the hard sell on the phone.

    Credit card was 2004

Hope that car was worth it lol :)
