    Happy Birthday Jinty :)

If you see someone at the party covered in emulsion, gloss and grouting, then that's me !!! Having a busy-bee day..... bathroom ceiling painted and all grouting touched up (lots of that, given the room's fully tiled), and I'm off to paint the radiator (possibly) and door (definitely) as soon as I finish my brew. New light fitting to go up tomorrow (the plastic in the old one had totally crumbled - didn't realise just how badly until I took the cover off this afternoon, and once the new taps come (about to order off eB@y via Quidc0) and I've had the bath panel off and put it back on I've got some vinyl tiles to go down instead of the carpet.

But for now (as soon as I've done the gloss in the bathroom) I'm moving on to the en-suite to pull up carpet, paint walls, ceiling, skirting boards, radiator and door - plus touch up the grouting in the shower. Also got a new light fitting for in there (same problem as it's a matching fitting), and will be putting down vinyl tiles as soon as the skirting boards dry. Then tomorrow is pull up the carpet in the cloakroom before painting in there (but at least there's only two tiles to re-grout in there) and the vinyl tiles to go down once it's dry. New taps already on order for the hand basins in these rooms (was waitiing on a reply from a seller before ordering for the master bathroom and kitchen sink), but probably won't be here until Wednesday at the very earliest so will have to go back to change those later. I also have replacement hinges on order for all three toilets !!!!

From there I'm moving into the living room and kitchen (pull everything out, thorough clean down and repaint in both rooms - plus washing of carpets, sofa covers and curtains in the living room)........ and then on to the hall, stairs and landing (though that's just dejunk, thorough clean of woodwork and vaccuum, as I'll have to farm the dog out onto someone - or put him in kennels for a weekend - before I can paint)

What an exciting use of a week off work - and what a wonderful use of my overtime money (got almost 5 weeks pay for 4 weeks work on Friday ;)), though I have had to raid savings to add to that in order to pay for everything :( Still, it'll be worth it when the house looks 'presentable' again :)

Today was definitely a spend day for me, as I've been out for the paint, grout touch up, light fittings and vinyl tiles - as was yesterday when I ordered the replacement hinges and two sets of basin taps. Need to get the other taps ordered today, but am in a quandry over the kitchen one - there's one at £17.50 that will 'do the job', but I much prefer the one at £33 !!! If I knew I was definitely going to look at moving next year then it would be the cheaper one, but as I'm still tempted to hang on to this place for as long as I possibly can I'm swaying towards the dearer one :o

:rotfl: I've not actually had the drill out (yet - will find out in the morning if I need to position the screw holes for the new light fittings, and if I do then it will come into play ;))

Bathroom radiator and door both painted - but I really would have thought I'd have learned by now that 'non-drip gloss' is one thing that doesn't do what it says on the tin !!! Several moves of drips while I was still painting, and I rather suspect they're going to need a second coat :( hadn't realised just how much the internal woodwork had yellowed in the 9 years I've lived here - and that's without anyone smoking in the property

Off to make a start on the en-suite now, but have realised (thankfully before starting) that I shall have to leave the grouting until tomorrow..... if I don't then I won't be able to have a shower before bed, as the one over the bath is out of action for tonight having re-grouted around that one this afternoon :o

Cheryl - I thought I had a busy day yesterday but I am exhuasted as well reading your list today.

We'll swing by and bring you a slice of Jinty's cake that Igor made after the party...wouldn't want you to miss out ;)

btw Nargle - exactly how many chickens were there at last count? I'm a little worried Igor might have got impatient and tried to use the eggs before they were actually laid if you get my drift....

No NSD for me again :( but a LSD so hopfully no kippers (though if that's on offer instead of igor's cake it might be the lesser of two evils!) Took my jeans (the rather costly ones that grow with each wear ) to the laundrette to try and shrink them again along with a jumper of OH that he wants shrinking and although it says do not tumble dry, it seems that even a 90 degree wash and a tumble on the hottest setting will not make it shrink - sods law eh?

Oh, hello SF, I spied you just as I hit reply. :D Hope you had a lovely weekend!

Kerri, send the non-shrinking culprits to me; I tend to have a knack at it! And that's without owning a tumble drier!

Keiss!!!!!! Ironing???? When there's a party to go to? (Or any time for that matter, if you're me! ;)) Step away from the iron and chuck on those crumpled gladrags and come join in the dancing for Jinty's birthday! It's ok, I'll tell Igor you've just come from the dentist and that's why you don't want any birthday cake... Jinty, I'm less sure how we get you out of tasting the cake... still, hope you've had a fun day up to Igor's cake baking shenanigans!

Had such good intentions of sticking a few things on free listings weekend today, but I find it so tedious that I've still not done it and it's growing ever more unlikely that I will! :o

However, today has been NSD 12. :D

I'll stick the items in the Tardis with Spoony after the party and she can drop them round to you if that's ok? :D

I am currently sat doing that very same tedious task of listing in Fleabay - must admit it's not as bad as it used to be years ago - but it's not the most exciting way to spend an evening. Got a few items that for some reason just haven't sold at the car boots, incl a lovely brown suede skirt - no idea why there has been no interest... so sticking them online to see if I can shift them.

Happy birthday Jinty, where is everyone? Ah, I see they have all been eating Igor's cake - that explains why you have had to call the plumber out for your blocked drains.....love the cheesy pineapples, by the way.....(No, Igor, a Blue Nun is a type of wine...now give the Reverend Mother her thermal knickers back......)
