Woop woop! No spend weekend here!! Went to my mums yesterday (grabbed a handful of teabags on the way out to save buying anymore for a while - it's amazing what you'll do when skint!) then came home and painted the woodwork in the kitchen and the French doors.

Then today we went to the shops and did a top up shop but that's out of the grocery budget.

So 4 NSD's for me so far this month.

Watching desperate housewives with a glass of wine (leftover from what a friend brought round on Friday night!) and then off to sort lunch for tomorrow - ooh also did some batch cooking for the week.

NSD 4 today. Spent the day gutting the flat and traipsing back and forward to the dump. Nearly gave in to takeaway but made a chick-pea curry instead. Now about to collapse in a heap and hopefully manage to drink my cuppa and read some of my book before I nod off! :)

    Evening all :hello:

SF got my 3rd NSD today, thank you x :A

Please can you to highlight your number of NSDs in a colour and in bold and preferrably LARGE so that I can see them easily when I whizz through the posts - any colour will do, though I am personally partial to PURPLE:D

Some helpful suggestions and ideas to follow below from our sponsor and godmother, BigMummaF :A
    NO SPEND CHALLENGE.

    1. Have a good, long think about what YOU want to include in your Spend & Excluded categories.
Some of us count everything from Direct Debits & school expenses, while others do not include things like essential Bills or emergency medical costs. If you plan what is or is not a Spend for you now, it will help you decide on a realistic Target.
    2. It is NOT a race!
We all have very different demands on our time & bank balance, so please do not think you have to buy everything on 1st January & make it last till 31st December! A few of us have been following this Challenge for a long...long...LONG time so have developed plans & ploys to help us along the way wink2.gif
    3. Most important of all, WE..DO..NOT..FAIL!
Sometimes we can't quite reach our Target, but that is fine :) Everyone knows how Life will try to trip us up, & that is when you will find us here to help you back on to your feet.

OK, an idea of how some of us do things.
    1. What you will or will not include as a 'Spend'.
Some people are doing other Challenges too, & don't include the money spent on those for this one.
Some will try to shop for other bits on the days their direct debits etc go out of their bank accounts; they're the real hard core of the bunch sport-smiley-003.gif & have been l-o-n-g time Nsders so don't panic :p
Some won't count those annoying last minute demands from school & collections as you can't plan for them in advance, likewise emergency prescriptions or visits to the vet :(
Personally speaking & providing I don't buy anything else, I don't count parking for hospital appointments.(..but then I usually do my shopping because I'm already out )
General thoughts on €bay sales is the buyer has paid P&P so no cost to you :D
    2. It takes Time to reach mega-numbers!
The First suggestion is the first, because a bit of planning will work wonders on your road to your Target. Have a look at Solvent's (aka Spoon:rotfl:) first posts each month for a hefty list of other Threads that may be of help. For example, there's a few giving ideas for packed lunches so you can avoid standing in the queue at the bakers for 45mins of your lunch hour! A good incentive to tweak your healthy eating & the pounds you save will show in your bank balance AND your waistline action-smiley-076.gif
It helps to have various 'money pots' for the different costs that happen like Scouts, dinner money, yoga, window cleaner etc etc. The idea is you "spend" all that money in one hit by....
let's say **putting the week's bus fares into the pretty coffee jar, Jo's tumble tots SIZE=2]Weds mornings[/SIZE in the cracked teapot & Ben's £1 coin for the gym locker SIZE=2]Friday lunch[/SIZE in the pocket of the changing bag, on Tuesdays every week when you've got some change from doing the food shop, so an already spendy day. At least four 'spending days' condensed into one ;) (**mine's jam jars for windows, milkman & a bit towards the bills!)
    3. Any day the money stays in your pocket is a bonus!
If you look at it as a day you beat the system, you can't help but :j so don't fret it--ENJOY! If nothing else in here, we do manage find something to make us smile :D

We have virtual outings to wonderful places that never cost us a bean :rotfl:New York, Edinburgh & Brighton have been a couple & Spoon usually pilots the Tardis but you can use your own transport; my personal favourite has been a sit-on lawn mower borrowed from the cricket club :D The only thing to be aware of is Hubert the donkey who is partial to anything remotely edible but is not yet house-trained :o

    And Remember;
there are no silly questions, so don't be afraid to ask us anything!

    Morning lovely NSDers

Good news from the landlord, he said yes and doesn't want any extra money at the moment. Though if I don't find something by the end of my contract then he will, which is fair enough. :j

So I will have wonderful weekend with my friends with the knowledge I will be coming back soon.

    Have a great weekend all.
    xx

That's brilliant news, Rock_Cakes, I'm so pleased for you:j:j:j What a turnaround in the last week, eh, it just goes to show that we never know what's around the corner.

    Phew, i'm back!!!!!

That was some job, i thought i'd never get out of there, especially when Nicca ran off & Hubert chased the reinforcements up the road

All done now, but Nargle you are really going to have to sort out Hubert's diet, i'm not quite sure what he has been eating, but it's really not good for him!!

Think i will be scrubbing myself for quite a while now, ha ha!!

    That,....or a rather large cork.....

Glad you managed to get out again, BDINI, I was a bit worried about you.

The Tardis smells much better now though I'm not keen on the air fresheners you've put everywhere - could you have gone for one perfume perhaps, I'm feeling a bit queasy!!:D

Nargle, a cork is definitely not a good idea, the pressure will build up and he'll explode, then we'll be mopping up bits of donkey as well:eek:.

Low fibre diet from now on and definitely no more of Keiss' chocolate and beetroot brownies - and keep him away from Igor's cooking:eek:

Do you remember during one of our outings when someone brought along a crate of chocolate beetroot brownies, and Hubert scoffed the lot? We kept finding little pink parcels everywhere for days after that.

It's indelibly inscribed on my memory, Nargle, he managed to get one on the Tardis' gear stick - that was not a pleasant experience:eek:

    Hi lovely gang:A

Sorry for all the posts, just catching up with the weekend's shenanigans (and plenty of that going on:D).

It sounds as though everyone's had a productive weekend one way or another and loads of NSDs being grabbed as well.

Reporting in with no 4 for me, sf, I've been very good this weekend and haven't spent at all (where's my halo:D)..... I'm sorely tempted by a couple of online bargains though, hoping the itch will go away if I ignore it for long enough!!

    'night everyone

  • I was heading in the NSD direction by baking my first Rice Bread for a long long time because I had run out of bread, but whilst online I perused the MIT OCW French Courses for Beginners and reckoned that they treat the Learner as intelligent rather than stupid and so splashed out on 3 books and also another Maths App!!
I will catch my No 2 NSD on Tuesday/ Wednesday so easily done along with the Weekend NSD opportunities unless I have to spend.
I am also trying to cut back so I can get feet done (very overdue and claw like) and get to Scotland hopefully for a nice long holiday.
Cheers and best to everyone regardless of whether I would do it like you or not as the case may be.:money:
