  • The Childcare review is this years version of the Specialist Renewals Team.

Over 200,000 cases have been inhibited (stopped) from finalising until the childcare element can be reviewed.

Depending on the information Tax Credit Office receives, they may write out to claimants (or attempt to contact them by phone) to iron out any discrepancies, or they may attempt to confirm the Childcare Costs directly with the Childcare Provider.

Hi I renewed on 19th May I do claim for childcare. When I originally got my childcare bill I sent Tax Credits a copy of the letter I got from the nursery, breaking down my payments into the weekly amount for the whole year, which is how I pay, weekly, this is continuing until the end of July this year when my DS leaves.

I thought it was normal just to send this information to them?

Anyhow I have not made any changes on renewal and I got my new award notice already with my new payments on.

I'm not sure if I made renewal quicker by doing this?

How do you know if you have been inhibited? I renewed 5th May and told to call back after 16th June. I have had a provisonal renewal which was incorrect so I called to sort this out. I am receiving amended payments been no letter - phone call and I dont know if child care provider been called.

I am being overpaid this year due to income incorrect on provisional award for this year - so at present each week goes by I am being overpaid which I really dont like.

Should I wait till 16th or call and chase up - I know this time of year it busy.

    Hi Ticktactoe/Silver Mountain

As you knowI renewed 5th May told to call back 16th June - called today and told still not finalised.

Concerned as chances in salary defo overpayment told them that I know so why are you putting me in a delibarate overpayment situation.

Answer put money by - okay yes and told should hear by 30th June - as renewals taking 8 weeks approx.

So guess no update yes still!!!

I renewed 4th May and told to wait until 15 June. Phoned today still not processed. Told they can take 8 weeks. I asked if they want any more information, lady checked notes and said there was nothing on their requesting any info, so I will just have to wait. It is the longest I have ever waited for renewal and I do not have childcare.

Been looking through the threads and it would appear at first glance that those who were told to wait six to eight weeks before phoning again are the ones who have only received provisional awards which state that the previous year is being reviewed. However, that may not be the case for everyone.

Maybe this method is this year's version of that Specialist Renewals Team; I haven't seen them mentioned this year, so perhaps all the claims that would have gone through them are the ones that are given the later date?

Just a guess though; to be honest I have no idea as to how these things work!

When I rang up on the 14th June to renew mine, there were two different options depending on what colour envelope your renewal form came in. Was white or brown. Wondering if people with a certain colour would take longer to come through?

I have only just renewed mine, hoping I hear back off them soon.

We have not got the childcare entitlement on ours at the moment, we shall be adding it on in Sept when I return to work as I am currently on Mat Leave.
