Advice needed re expenditure - possibility of BR

Ermmmm - because if I leave for work at 7:30am and do not get back home till 7pm than a dog needs to go out to pee/poo...is one reason.
hi..I ask...not from a view of being a troll, but from a view of reducing your expenditure...
I once had a Border Collie, size-wise about as big as the German Shepherd...[my part of the divorce deal].....and used to work shifts.....
I would be up and out at some silly hours...but had to make a concerted effort to include long walks for the dog....before and /or after work......usually in the dark.
What a pain in the winter!!!!!!!!!!!!
Time-wise, I aimed for about an hour, door-to-door......
As a result, he was only too pleased to see the back of me when I went off to work [probably also so he could sneak off onto my bed ]....
Essentially, at all other times, when not working, he went with me, whatever I did......
never howled, despite possessing the typical Border Collie neurosis......sound like your dog is a bit of a 'back-of-the-pack' personality.....really needing re-assurance and security .......?No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
Zara has always been like that I am afraid. The second I leave without her - her whole world collapses. She does not even eat or drink when I am not around. Did you kow that separation anxiety can cause anorexia in dogs? There is a book " A dog that loved too much" or something like that .. highly recommended.. sigh...
And now, with her back leg problems (hips displasia and arithritis - and she is not even 5 yo yet) she can not manage very long walks, needs to go more often for shorter walks - to keep her hips moving but not to strain too much.
I used to take her for 2 hour walks but can not do it any more, she just can not make it - she will try but then she absolutely drags her back legs behind when we get back in.
Anyway, this is not the point of this thread... But thanks for asking about that.0 -
Just for info, Getting Ready, OR does not allow for pet insurance anyway, (yeah I know - pet insurance makes sense when you have pets and I speak from experience (2 x bills of £800 in the last 6 months!) - so the average responsible pet owner would keep insuring their pet/s). If you wish to keep paying insurance premiums this has to come out of some other 'allowance' ie groceries or something.0

''Haircuts?'' [pray not to have face-to-face interview with OR, eh?}
Don't forget, you are entitled to 'claim' for holiday savings as well.....not a lot, but every bit helpsNo, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
No insurance whatsoever?
I can possibly not re-insure the cats but I desperately need dog insurance as she is not well and she will need an operation on both back legs (around 1500 per leg) - it is not case of if but when.....
Yes, absolutely every bit helps (last holiday I had was 7 years ago - if I remember right), someone else mentioned optician - I do wear glasses, got 2 pair and they will have to last me ages now but could put something towards that?
Thanks again0 -

I was allowed 30 for pet insurance, i think a lot is down to or. you might get someone who will allow it but you may not. I dont think you will get away with dog walker though. Only way round that might be to find someone who lives near that you could ask to come and let her out a couple of times a day?
I put down 20 for holiday.0 -

Dogs are pack animals, they hate being alone.
To me, it's cruel to leave a dog at home alone, which means a single working person - which I am - cannot have a dog.
As well as failing my dog-suitability test, the OP cannot afford one either.
The conclusion is obvious.
(And it's not sign on the dole!)
Life changes you know, My circumstances also changed and i would not rehome my dogs either, but you do have to be prepared to make changes.0 -
I appreciate you had a good job and the 6 months ago went onto JSA. I don't know how much JSA is , and you probably got your rent paid, but how have you survived in that time without credit unless you had savings.
My concern though is what happens when job is over, you said you would worry about it then. But don't forget after going br your access to credit will be severely limited. How will you support all your pets then.
I feel that you want all your debt taken away and to carry in the lifestyle you have. Going br means you have to make some real life choices. Many on here have lost houses, cars etc. They have been forced to move away from family etc. But in your case no sacrifices are going to be made. I know you love your pets but as Hardup says you are burying your head in the sand. You cannot afford them. That is the truth. Even with your new job, your income is insufficient to keep you all.0 -
Im afraid to seems to me too, that you are not prepared to change. you need to face up to the fact that you can not go on as you are. Its one thing spending so much on your pets when you can afford it but how will you cope now?
no or will allow you to spend 200 on a dog walker im sure, My dogs are fed skinners, I very rarely go out, I dont smoke or drink, buy basic brand food, dont have sky. I am lucky to be able to come home at lunchtime from work to let my dogs out and they are walked before and after work. it may not be ideal but it works. I hope you can find away round it but it is time to be honest with your self, I have read on the pet section that you have just taken on another cat, in your circumstances that was not very responsible.
Sorry but you dont seem to realise what a big step br is.0
