Question about RBS Current Account
Comments
-
no interest in natwest, and yes i know rbs and natwest are one,
but in scotland isnt RBS JUST RBS? no ties? or have i missed something.
Any RBS account will have nothing to do with Santander until the divestment happens.
To avoid this if it's a concern, open an account at a Scottish RBS branch as I said.0 -
Well if its RBS your cousin wants to bank with, as has already been pointed out, it will have to be opened with a Scottish sort code, or it will be eaten by Santander.
There are Natwest branches in Scotland which will go to Santander, so after the sale, it will just be RBS in Scotland, and Natwest in EnglandDebt free and staying that way! :beer:0 -

kk thanks i'll do that cheers• HSBC (Main A/C)
• Halifax Back up A/C

I used the Glasgow, Sauchiehall Street branch code 83-52-00, there are many others of course. Certainly Scottish RBS branches aren't going to Santander0

well what he wants is an RBS account that has nothing to do with santander, a true scotish RBS account
or
can you recommended any other current account which is good ? EXCEPT santander lol best banks?
Go for Natwest. I don't understand why people are opening RBS accounts at English branches then moving them to Scottish branches. Natwest offers pretty much exactly the same service as RBS (except their savings rates are a bit better).
I'd be willing to bet that once the branch sell off occurs, remaining Natwest and RBS accounts will ultimately be migrated onto the same system and they'll just operate as brands of one mega bank. I know that's mostly the case just now - but I mean in the same way as Bank of Scotland and Halifax accounts are basically on the same system, to the extent that I can log in to an account from one of them on the others' website.0
