His Wife and Daughter will not be able to corroborate his claim as they are not independent.
    Bingo!

But there is the possibility of paint transfer.

to the OP, don't fret about it. If you didn't do it then dont pay for it (and dont let your insurance company pay for it either!)

Slightly different context but I spent 18 months fighting an accident that I never had (guy had my registration number and address, but not name - lived 5 minutes down the road and claimed an accident 15 miles away) over £1500 damage to his car and over £900 in car hire  yet nothing on my car to indicate that I'd had an accident! It ended up going to court, but he dropped out 3 days before the court date and I got NCB re-instated etc etc. Guys dead now - serves him right...

If you do hear anything from the insurance company the first thing to do is to state that you have had no such incident and they are not to pay the claim. (Insurance companies are your agent and are there to work for you and have to respect your instructions, unless over-ridden by court)

I once opened my door and a gust of wind swung it into the car next to me... with a husband and wife sitting there, the wife proceeded to give me an evil look (fair enough), and the man got out and took a look... no visible damage, so end of story. If someone had done it to me, then I'm not sure where the damage threshold would be before I considered getting insurance involved, but I'm sure I'd let a tiny dent off unless the perp was completely unapologetic. Or I was in my bugatti at the time...

I had someone bump my car a couple of weeks ago when I left it parked. Its sickening as its the first new car we have ever had. But it is odd, as people say - you park as far away as possible in a virtually empty car park and odds on someone in a 15 year old fiesta is parked next to your car when you return.

appart from them being held together by rust at that age go for it.

fiesta's focus's ka's start to rust from about 6 years on. hell ive seen a 58 plate with chronic rust in the arches and sills.

i parked in a supermarket carpark quite a few years ago i was driving a fiesta mk4, i was walking round making my shop when my reg was announced of the tannoy, i went to customer services, and there was a manager 2 trolly boys and their window cleaning contractor, the manager explained that the window guy had driven into the rear of my car, (nice of him to report it to me) i went out to find a citroen berlingo about 6 months old parked next to my car with the front bumper hanging off one side, broken indecator and light lense, broken front grille, and a flat wing around the indicator, i thought oh my god my cars going to be a mess, checked the car and seen nothing, he hit the rear quarter, wich had cracked and flaked paint and that panel was full of filler anyway, only damage on my car was about a 2 inch scratch right at the verry tip of the bumper where it meets the arch. apparently he wash finished on on his way to next job trolly boys wer pushing a larhe train of trollys up the car park when the fron end of the train veered into the path of the van causing him to swerve and hit back of my car, i just put the ball back in the window cleaners court, the window cleaner was well peeved the trolly boys caused it last thing he said was, its coming out of XXXX's pockets.

HA! You think that bad! I parked my new (although second hand) immaculate Pug 206 Roland Garros, (five years old,45k on the clock & the only damage was from the previous owners high heel where it had worn a hole in the drivers mat) which I'd had for less than a week, outside my uncles house while I went to work.BT Engineer proceeded to drop his ladders thru my windscreen, smashing it to bits & denting the drivers side front wing, then in the same week, the bin men smashed a wheely bin into the side of the car, denting the drivers door!!!

Depends which factory they were made in, the Dagenham ones can be dodgy the spanish ones are much much better. I've had a few mk3's so I know them pretty well - hence why I want to ditch the rover and get another.

My Da was in the car trade & they called any cars from Dagenham "Dagenham Dustbins" as they rattled that much! (That was in the 70's/80's tho when they frequently went on strike)
