His wife isn't an independent witness.
Great minds and all that
That doesn't matter. It is up to the insurers and/or the courts how much credence they want to place on the evidence of a witness who is not independent. The witnesses are perfectly entitled to provide evidence.
OP, write everything down and keep it safe. And take some photos of the lack of damage, etc.0 -

Quite so.
Both parties in this case have witnesses who may be described as not independent, so the witnessing quality is about equal.
The other person may be able to get the OP's details from the DVLA, as well as her insurance details from the Motor Insurers' Database.
The question is will the other person bother?
My opinion is probably not.
All the OP can do - as has been said - is make a record of her version of events and wait to see if anything happens.0 -

Which makes you just as bad as any other inconsiderate driver/parker0 -
someone tried this a few yrs ago in a netto car park he said id damaged his car when i was utting dd iinto the back ,but there was no marks and the muck where i apparently hit him hadnt been disturbed. he followed me for about 6 miles when i stopped to go into a local newsagent he came in shouting but the shop owner told him to go away .
i rang my ins co and they said that its a well known scam and to forget about it . he never pursued a claim and im very wary of where i park now. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

If that's your conclusion, but i'll stop when other people get some respect for other peoples property. Until then you'll find me at the furthest space from the store.
Very first time I broke this rule I had the ex moaning at me for not parking by the entrance, not wanting the argument I gave in.... But when I came back to the car someone had driven into it
Not that parking in the furthest space is always effective, my friends and I have a running joke that even if you park in the middle of nowhere, you'll always come back to find someone parked next to you.
Reason? some people can't park without having another car to use as a guide “I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

yip they want to hear that all important sound of scraping metal and cracking plastic thats when they know their in!0 -
Can't believe people do things like this.
Was there any CCTV facing around the car park where you both were parked?
If this guy claims though insurance I would not agree liability (i'm sure you won't as its not your fault) Seriously, a dent that is that shallow and tiny can be fixed without any form of bodywork. There are garages that specialise in PDR (paintless dent removal) can remove dents back to 100% perfection and they cost much less than insurance excess. I had a tennis ball hit my roof, causing a big dent. £70 to a PDR guy and you could never tell it was there. Not really worth the agro seeing as its going to cost him excess and bump up his insurance cost considerably more.0 -
I have scrapes across my rear bumper from where some eejit tried to squeeze their shopping trolly past the back of my car, nothing I can do about it apart from move on.
But the same thing happened to me a few years age.Basically,a dog ran across a dual carraigeway, the car in front of the car in front of me braked,he also braked & I swerved to avoid him. (I was driving a works Transit van & doing about 25 mph as we were just off the traffic lights & speeding up when this happened.
I clipped the back of his car nearside rear.He wasn't too concerned about it as it was a company car as well. The car in front was a posh Merc & the was a good 10 foot gap between the blokes car & the Merc.
PSNI came, woman confirmed no one had hit her Merc, paperwork done,we all go on.(PSNI wanted to find the dog so they could do the owner)
About eight months later I get a letter from the company insurers as the Merc driver was now claiming her car WAS damaged! So I dug out the PSNI officers details & passed it back to the insurers with the note that the Merc owner had said no one hit her.
Never heard a bean since.
OP,good luck.0 -

Clearly going for injuries claim, she saw a way to pay off some of that debt on the car and she went for it. :rotfl:“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I've had this happen, sort of. Was sitting parked in the high street, just gathering stuff to get out of car. Watched a girl try and park in the space in front of me. Her driving was terrible, so stayed with the car.... a few seconds later she reversed into me.
Got out, damage wasn't too bad on mine- cracked plastic bumper. Hers came off worse- she had a colourcoded bumper set which had also cracked. Wasn't fussed, as I had a spare bunper in the house.
What annoyed me was when she accused me of moving forward into her! Demanded my insurance details= refused to give. Wasn't my fault.. SHe told me she would contact her insurance over it, didn't hear a thing about it again.0
